Cloutier's inane opinions come strictly from an anti-American oh my god they are taking our sport away point of view. Nothing more. - jimbro83
a NY/LA final is something the NHL has been dying for...it could happen, it could be such a boost to the game for which his fledgling franchise could benefit from down the road by way of increased revenue...
Not disagreeing with your post at all, but in sports a hero can be downgraded to goat with a single swing of the stick...literally...how is this for a rarity? How many double minors do you see in which a goal is scored to wipe out the first two mins and see a 2nd goal scored on the 2nd PP...talk about something you don't really see too often...I know folks will throw the 6 on 4 thing at me, but those are gharder to execute b/c there is less ice and the shorthanded team can ice the puck at will...
Great game last night, so much easier to sleep with a win like that, compared to going to bed completely frustrated sometimes. Like many posts have stated, Richards is earning every penny of his pay. This is what we signed him for. MDZ, in my opinion, is still taking some sloppy penalties, hopefully that ends for him.
Although this has nothing to do with the next game, has anybody heard about Sauers health?? Not saying he can comeback for the play offs, but there has been no word on his health since January. Hope he is ready to play next season. We could sure use him this playoffs.

Aside from last night? Not too many. But how many fools take that useless penalty by carelessly swinging their stick around while holding a one goal lead in one of the greatest arena's in the world against one of the top teams in the league who has more or less outplayed you all game long? Again, aside from Ward?

I heard someone say as recently as last month Sauer was still in bad shape and there is definite talk of his career being over, much like his brother Kurt.

Dam shame, he paid his dues in Hartford, fought through injuries there to succeed in the NHL, I hope he makes it back because he deserves better.

Thanks, not good news if true. That would be a loss to us indeed. He was having a good season.

Well, I am sure you can look back to many moments in which players took foolish penalties at foolish times. It was bad, I agree...if I were a Caps fan I would be incensed...

That is a shame, he was really rounding into a solid top 4...damn Phaneuf!
Caps fans are whining because we put ECF tickets on sale, who's crying now? - HankdaTank
Where? On twitter? That standard, I am sure if they had won last night they would have put ECF tix on sale too and they will if they win Game 6...so what? Let them whine....lets finish them off and turn them into the San Jose Sharks of the East...
Joel Ward's penalty might be the dumbest penalty I have ever seen in the NHL, at least top 3. Its the type of penalty you see in peewee. There is zero reason for his stick to be up that high, zero reason for him to turn the way he did and when you factor in how much time was left, factor in the situation at the time of the game and foctr in exactly what game it was... man oh man Joel. For a guy who fought his way into the NHL, played junior hockey the right way, to end up handing the game to the Rangers like that will put you in the top 5 worst ever mental mistakes in sport history. Unbelievable. Congrats to the Rags for making him pay but if I were a Capitals fan, and they lose this series, finger firmly planted at the moron who gave the game away. No excuses. - Lohaus
easy to point the finger at Ward, but far from his fault that they lost. they had several 2on1 and a 3on1 in the third and failed to convert. not to mention, they were dominated through first 2 periods. I'm not denying it was a stupid penalty, just shouldn't be blamed if they lose the series
Most people, and I am guilty of this as well, think low scoring games are not exciting.
Maybe he is judging the second round west matchups because the East has been exciting through the first two rounds.
This series has been well played, from both teams. Not a lot of cheap play and just tough, hard-nosed hockey.
Please end this tomorrow and in regulation, Rangers. Is this asking for too much? - MidnightMarauder
IMO, chances are exciting, not necessarily actually scoring a lot of goals for both teams... Some of the most exciting games are low scoring 1 goal games that turn into a goalie duel with both goalies playing out of their mind due to the chances. That gets me going nuts even in a neutral game. And last night both teams had plenty of chances to make it crazy exciting. I dont need high scoring, I need uptempo.

Maybe Rangers are giving him the time he needs to recover. Dont get me wrong would much rather have him than Bickel, but maybe Rangers are ok with Bickel enough to not push to risk his career. Then again that could just be wishful thinking. Damn, how good would our D b if he was still here tho .

They missed on so many odd man rushes. Thats why the caps lost.

You know what else is easy to do? Keep your stick down.

no doubt, we would have 2 great shutdown pairs. I hope sauer is ready by next season
