You know what else is easy to do? Keep your stick down.

they had a 3on1 with ovechkin and failed to get a shot. granted, staal made two very nice plays. point is, their skilled guys missed several grade a chances

Maybe Rangers are giving him the time he needs to recover. Dont get me wrong would much rather have him than Bickel, but maybe Rangers are ok with Bickel enough to not push to risk his career. Then again that could just be wishful thinking. Damn, how good would our D b if he was still here tho .

I thought Stralman had a very nice bounce back game, very assertive on the puck not to mention the goal

They missed on so many odd man rushes. Thats why the caps lost.
- mrhattrick27

True, but I gave more credit to Saal reading that play, adjusting his postioning and making the move at the exact right moment he needed to. It was an excellent play by the young Thunder Bay native, no question. No shame in losing because of good plays. Mental mistakes to the degree of high sticking some guy in the head on a play that didn't require any physical force or having your stick elevated is completely a different scenario.

just like our bad 1st period did us in the other day in game 4...you can always point to so many different things...getting a two goal advantage has been impossible this series aside from game 1 and that was tied going into the 3rd...

Backstrom hitting the post was a large play too...

Hank got his glove on that otherwise it would have been a goal. Hank played out of his mind, again. Guy deserves the Vezina and the Hart. I know playoffs don't count in voting.

Yep... but there is a difference between physically being unable to do something and mentally giving away a game. I've lost a lot of games in a variety of sports, I can deal with the ones where, as a team, we were unable to win even though we played hard. Missed one timer, hit the post, just got under the ball by a hair and hit the warnign track etc... I don't deal well with games we lost because someone decided to do something dumb and cost us the game. Anyone who has played knows that there is a big difference between a penalty that the team can say "good job Joel, that was a sure goal if you didn't do that" and a penalty where you just sort of groan, grab your stick and head back out to try and kill it off. Dumb dumb dumb mistakes like Ward's is inexcusable at that level. People can point to a post or a broken up odd man rush, but these are plays that happen not because of poor decisions but because they physically were unable to do so. What Ward did is just one man's dumb response that cost the team the game and probably the series.

Its hard to disagree with what your saying but there were other reasons as well...the thingabout sports is he gets to come back and try to atone...I hope he doesn't of course but thats why watch...

Don't count the money, let's worry about getting through this round first, then the next one and the one after that before we even think about the Conn Smythe

was just talking in terms of team MVP until now, trust me, I am in no way awarding anything to anybody...

I am sure LA is having the same conversation about Dustin Brown, is he playing like a man possessed, remember the trade rumors coming to the Rangers??

fair enough. it was a stupid penalty and definitely deserves criticism. I don't think he should be made a scapegoat though. there were many opportunities for caps to put rangers away and they failed. rangers took theirs and finished

That's right this is not over. Last night had shades of 94' written on it, talk about the joy of victory and agony of defeat. WOW.
