I argued with you about Briere during the Pens series, because I did think the scales ultimately tipped in his favor considering the series as a whole, but he was absolutely terrible for the most part against New Jersey. I'd probably lean to do the buyout at this point if it came down to it. Maybe I'm fickle - eayost
If you remember the specifics of that convo i mentioned him whilting against a defensive team. I'm not quite ready to jump around and say I told ya so, because other players had drop offs too, but he imo was a hindrance in that series. |

I think we should forget about any amnesty buyout. Not likely to happen. - MJL
Gotta keep all options open. Anything can happen. Homer showed us that last year. |

One of the very few good things about being an Oriole fan: I'm never disappointed! |

Detriot said they were planning to spend even if he didn't retire & with Suter & Parise the best 2 on the market and little after it I'd bet they make a serious run. - ob18
Who knows what tricks Holland has up his sleeve. I think this Devils run, will ensure Parise remains in NJ. |

Homer has zero to do with the CBA. Keeping options open for a GM making moves and a negotiated CBA, are worlds apart.

You guys would honestly buyout Briere? Ugghh if that happens my dad might put the remote through the TV. - Sabreshark
have to pick your poison. we're pretty loaded up front...esp at center. 6.5 MM to pursue a dman or 2 would be the priority. |

If the coaches or whatever could have a sit down with him and say something like "you absolutely have to commit to team D, be as tenacious in the D zone as the O zone", and if he actually did it, he'd be a great asset.
Unfortunately, in his mid 30s, you probably can't teach and old dog new tricks at this point. |

Probably with them selecting around #22 more d-men prospects should be available.
But I go best available if it's a goalie I may hedge and still go with a position player. - ob18
20th overall pick. I wanted Dalton Thrower. But i dont think he'll be selected that high. |

I don't think it's just his age but his small stature isn't helping either. |

Ummm... What does another Emery mean? Subban is a legit prospect, the fact he is black has nothing to do with anything. - PLindbergh31

Anything is possible, July 1 is far off.
I'd imagine this is the year the Devils give up the 1st round pick for the salary cap issue years ago since they've advanced to the conference finals. |

If there is an amnesty buyout, buyout Bryz, sign Suter, an possibly Harding.
I dont know WTF to do. I want Suter but will the cap allow it?? I also want Vaselevski or Subban... - Sabreshark
A goalie doesn't reach his prime until mid to late 20s by which time all these young guys on the Flyers are probably playing somewhere else. Want them all you like, but they aren't coming here to be a starter any time soon. |

Or his willingness to get dirty. He needs open ice to play his game. Plenty of smaller players make careers around playing defensive hockey, stature is an excuse, not a reason. But to the earlier point, I agree he's past the age of changing his ways and his money is guaranteed. |

I feel there are two ways to go with the Defense. If the right player for the right deal is available, then absolutely make the move. Whether that's a trade or a free agent pick up. But don't make the move just to make a move.
If Carle doesn't come back. Which I think is going to be the case. Another option is elevating Meszaros and Coburn. Both have shown in the past, to have offensive ability from the backend. And signing a short term solution. Just a solid defender who can play physical, and play well in his own end. And when Timonen comes off the books, there will be some coin to make a splash. |

I know what he was saying. And what I was saying was all the bad we'd heard about Emery had been overblown claptrap. |
