would you throw in Mezaros? just a thought I'm not sure myself. - JoeRussomanno
Believe it or not, I thought of Meszaros instead of one of JvR and Voracek. Nashville will need D. |

I could care less what Bryzgalov does off the ice, with his personnel life, etc... He's paid a kings ransom to stop the puck for the Philadelphia Flyers. The criticism if he doesn't play well is warranted, comes with the territory. He has to have a thicker skin. If people attack him personally that is a different story, and should be off limits.
Complaining that the fans and media are getting on him based on performance is too bad, he should have chose a different profession if he can't handle it. - PLindbergh31
You miss the boat. It's not warranted criticism that is the issue. It's unwarranted criticism.

Im waiting for fallout from that interview, there's so many ways they can twist that thing to create controversy. - JoeRussomanno
Fans should be able to take it when a player criticizes them for being bumholes. |

We still hear about his infamous thermos picture at the winter classic from the media. And they call him stuff like "space cadet". Most of the "controversy" brought up in the media this year didn't really have anything to do with his play. What his overall subpar play does allow though is these guys to write the non-hockey stuff without a backlash from the general "fans". |

Well I told you guys about the Islander game I was out when he got the shutout and lost in the shootout and they booed him off the ice for his twirl, I was appalled. I'm so tired of this all or nothing mentality that has corroded society. Yes we want to win a championship/Stanley Cup but c'mon are we gonna win it in February playing the Islanders? I think not. |

Like I said, I think it would take JVR, one of Schenn or Couturier, and a combination of first round picks and or prospects. Bigger then the Pronger deal. Pronger was an older player past his prime. Weber is just entering his prime and is a dominating player. - MJL
I would compare the deals that brought Pronger from the Blues to the Oilers and the Oilers to the Flyers. This is a player that was dealt as a top Dman in the entire league for what he's done in both the regular season and the playoffs, while staying consistent. |

Exactly. You see it on here, and in the Media. Goals are called soft by people that have no clue what a soft goal is. The same goes for other players. I could go on and on.
There is plenty of room for legitimate and objective criticism of Bryzgalov's play this year, without inventing nonsense to pile it on.

Off season will be fun...
Jakub Voracek - I'm thinking 2.5 or so for 3 years
Jagr - sure why not for 2.5 for 2 years
Carle - 4.5 for 2 years
Harry Z - get him again for the same
mad dog - see above
Bob's last year before RFA - make or break it kid.
Otherwise, I'd look for 1-3 dman (not going to be easy or cheap), big winger who can be that role player we were missing, and wait for the deadline. I liked the comment yesterday about a JVR for Bogosian deal!
Kubina - bye bye
Pronger - I wish he would but there is no chance he returns

I love Homer as our GM, but I wish we could do a mulligan when traded a first round pick for Eminger and the Caps drafted Carlson. Man, does that hurt.
If Carle is resigned, does the D core pretty much stay in tact? My main concern is I don't believe Kimmo can play 20+ minutes a night anymore and not be worn out by playoff time. If Kimmo comes back, I really believe he should be in the 4th most minutes for the defense per game. The team is really going to have to limit his "hard" minutes on the PK and defending top lines. It certainly looks like that transition has begun with Coburn and Grossmann pairing. |

I don't pay attention to any of what the Philly media writes, so if Bryzgalov was attacked personally, I wouldn't have a clue about it. It truly amazes me that people give a rats ass what these people write, who gives a flying (frank). The fact the players are even cognizant about what the media is writing or letting these clowns effect their performance is insanity. People in every day life put up with a ton more poop than these athletes deal with and for franctions less than what these guys earn in a week. |

It's going to take considerably more to sign Voracek to a long term deal. And Carle as Bill said, who is willing to take less then market value to stay here, is going to want more then a 2 year deal.
Harry Z and Manning are AHL players.

Well I agree that we shouldn't really care what some of the incompetent reporters write. And I think you wrong about athletes having to deal with less then everyday people. They have the same human issues as we do. Money doesn't take away all of that.

Yeah especially since Jake made $2.25 this past season. It's probably $3.2 to $3.5 at least. |

Depending on what Carle resigns for, there will be some money to sign one or more players. |

Unfortunately, I don't believe one of those players will be Jagr. I believe the young guys (Read, Schenn, Coots) have earned the right for more minutes that Jagr played. Personally, I would invest in a veteran checking winger to team with Coots and Talbot. I prefer Wellwood and Rinaldo more as 4th line energy players, then in checking roles. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Wellword or Rinaldo, I believe both have value on the roster. |

A big part of what a lot of people in today's economy are dealing with is keeping a roof over their head, food on the table, and clothes on their kids back, talk about pressure, that's real life pressure, life and death pressure. Getting ripped in a newspaper by some assclown, or having a drunk yell you suck is something these guys should be tuning out, granted they aren't robots, but they have chose their profession and with it comes scrutiny. |

I just read the Russian language interview with Bryz. He had a lot of honest things to say about the team and his own play, the fans, and the media. I dont think he says one thing I disagree with, but he is going to get murdered by DNL, WIP, and Panotch.
Here we go.

Your right, the economic issues that a lot of people are faced with, they don't have to deal with that. But that wasn't given to them. They earned that. But if you think that having that money insulates them from being human, and having feelings and emotions. Your are badly mistaken. A guy like Bryzgalov was under immense pressure coming here. Pressure is pressure. And as a Human being, he reacts to it the same way we do. Regardless of how big his bank account is. And just like in our lives we learn to deal with things, and over come things. And grow from the experience. So does a Pro athlete, in his World. |

I hope Holmgren isn't planning on bringing back the same exact defense core, Timonen a year older, and the same cast won't be enough to get it done. |

I'd rather him do that than overpay for someone right now. Just be patient there's a good chance Weber's days in nashville are numbered then what? We can compete and keep our heads above water who knows what will happen. Players become available via trades every year. |
