With the system that they play, a solid backup goaltender would keep them in contention. - 77rams
he really just needs to be good in the shootout. |

Homer isn't going to just give him away. So I think that the return will definately be for a player that is needed. - stveshdy
I don't either. I think that JvR has to have a good solid year and show progression. He's got to be more consistent in his physical game and provide solid and consistent offense.
Holmgren's comments kind of indicate that JvR is being expected to take a step forward in 2012-13 |

Case in point.
Sam Carchidi @BroadStBull
Bryz sick of the scrutiny. My #Flyers blog: http://bit.ly/Ke0koW - MBFlyerfan
Dude I have like an eye booger stuck to my eyeball and it blurred my vision so bad that i thought I read that you actually wrote that.
People are female doging about Bryz's pay, wtf Carchidi needs to hand his pay back after writing that! All he did was summarize the other reporter's interview omfg what a joke |

understood. obviously the flyers don't want that either. they want to reap the fruits of their patience. i'd be willing to give him 1 more year, assuming he's healthy, of showing real progress and becoming a key player they can count on. after that, i'm looking to move him for the right price. - hammarby31
Well, yeah, if he comes out next year and scores 15 goals and his physical game is inconsistent, then they have to look at moving him. |

JvR can dominate when he has his game going. He can be very physical at times but for some reason he seems to lack confidence when things aren't going his way. He's still a young kid but he needs to take a step forward next season. |

Hopefully, in 3 years Couturier is a stud second line center being named a Selke finalist and putting up 70 points. I'm very excited to see him and Schenn getting more offensive opportunities. - Jsaquella

Look at his career path. He played NJ high school and US developmental team, then went to UNH. That means, he was probably the best player in his league without even having to break a sweat for most of his life.
Sounds dumb, but he's still learning how to use his size and skill and keep his intensity level high. |

But that's why I'm willing to extend his window a bit more than I would a guy who was playing in Kamloops at 16 and not Middletown High |

If Kimmo throws in the towel, does his cap hit come off the books? - Giroux_Is_God
It isn't going to happen, but yes it would come off the books. He was 32 when he signed the contract.

Absolutely. The problem is with the new contract comes big expectations. People may let him slide now because he is young and was on an EL deal but now things change and the pressure is on. Will see what type of kid he is. Theres two ways to go: step up or fall apart. |

Howard Eskin just tweeted that he's hearing 9 Flyers will be going under the knife. Timonen will have back surgery for his disc problems, and JvR will be having hip surgery |

The money shouldn't raise expectations to unreasonable levels. Sometimes far too much is made of a guy's contract and not enough of the hurdles he has to overcome. |

Not that I disagree but with a cap world thats how most players are viewed. Is so and so worth that hit?
I think his expectations next season has to be around the 60-65 point mark possible higher. |
