You're absolutely right about Hecht and Pominville. Their defensive capabilities helped Briere. JVR is not a good player to play alongside Briere for defensive purposes

I don't think so. You don't go forward with guys who are all the same age. You need a mix of old heads, mid-career guys, and young guys. Flyers group already skewing very young. You need a guy like Harts (who showed himself to be an emotional leader and positive energy guy on and off the ice this year).

Hartnell has a NMC, and Timonen has expressed already that he will play his entire contract. If anything, he will have his multiple surgeries, and say he can't go, which his last year will be LTIR, and not against the cap.

Why would you get rid of the guy who's finally blossomed as a scoring power forward and is a leader (and somehow talk him out of his NMC) in order to bring in a vet? I doubt Jags is still here, although I'd love him to be. But none of those guys fill either the emotional or physical/skill combo role Hartnell does. #needbothgingers

Yes, he will be traded before Canadian Thanksgiving, fail the physical and get sent back. Then he will be traded before American Thanksgiving, once and for all, before being acquired in Spring 2014 for the stretch drive that season.
