No, you're a troll because you are making outlandish and ridiculous statements that are supposed to antagonize and get reaction, rather than actually talking about hockey. The only time you post is when things are depressing and add little or nothing to the conversation.
Your purpose isn't to further the discussion, it's to screw with people and be a clown.

I don't so much hate the Rangers as a team. There are a lot of players on the team that I admire, starting with their captain, several defensemen, a couple of particularly likeable ex-Flyers (Fedotenko and Biron), and Lundqvist.
However, I personally dislike their coach and their GM. Tortorella is a bully of a coach. Overall, I think he's a good coach -- very good with Xs and Os and getting favorable matchups. But his hubris gets in the way sometimes. He is so convinced of his own genius that he's actually gotten in the way of his own team's success more than once both in Tampa and New York.
Sather is still living off the reputation of building 1980s Edmonton dynasty an has made more bad than good decisions in the last quarter century. I find Slats' insufferable much of the time.
I also dislike the misplaced haughtiness of a large percentage of the fan base. This is a team that has one Stanley Cup since 1940, is 18 years removed from the last one and still has yet -- although they still very well may do so after Game 7 -- to advance past the second round since 1997.
Finally, I think the New York media (as well as Canadian) were the ones who created and still perpetuate the image of the Flyers' team as a goon squad . They also love to play up the boorishness of Philadelphia fans, when there is equal percentage of idiots -- and a larger number because of the sheer size of their metro area -- in New York.
So there you have it. I respect the Rangers as a team but I can never root for them under any circumstances.

I will still never understand this trade, at least from the Canadiens perspective. - BulliesPhan87
Apparently, Pierre Gauthier really pushed for it. Not only did Sather get rid of Gomez's awful contract, he managed to get a really good young defenseman |

There's been a ton of good discussion. At the same time, there's still plenty of people purporting to be Flyers fans that are here to throw rocks and troll.
Kinda sad, but they'll leave as soon as things start getting sunny. They always do. |

All good points, Bill ... except I'd add that (in my view) it's easier to hate the Devils than the Rangers because NJ has been more directly responsible for ending Flyers seasons over the last decade and a half than the Rangers.
From the trap, to Scott Stevens KO's Lindros, to constantly hearing about how great Brodeur was while our goalie's sucked, the Devils just had a way of twisting the knife in the wound, imho.

I still hate the Rangers from the Smurf days. I was a kid then, so the hurt of losing to them burned more than with the Devils. |

yeah, I remember hating those Smurfs with a passion at the time. But as soon as a certain geographically-closer team started destroying hockey with the trap, and winning Cups while doing it, I found a new enemy.

Kind of funny Lundquist for the Rangers couldn't get out of the playoffs in the first round for like 3 straight years. Certainly he is a great goalie, but the team defense around him this year has been markedly better then in years past. This year in the playoffs, the team defense in front of Bryz was spotty at best, yet he bears the brunt of criticism. He and the team defense as a whole has to do a better job in the playoffs. One or the other won't achieve long-term success in the playoffs, both have to be effective simultaneously.
Of course, Bryz is being ripped for his comments to the Russian reporter. Am I suprised? Of course not, the media is all about negativity and "shock" value in our society today. Its ashame, but it is what it is. |

I'm just tired of people reading headlines, like the one on SI.com that says "Bryz rips Philly fans" and not the story, where Bryzgalov flat out says he doesn't mean the fans and say retarded things like he belongs in the KHL.
Last night, two local beat guys wrote articles whining about Bryzgalov while a part time radio and TV host scooped them on the Flyers injury news. That's telling and sad. |

I never really had a hatred of Devils. I feel sorry for a team that has a lousy fan base. They have had success but their style of hockey is boring even it's winning. Year and year out I would sell those tickets because i would rather get a good nights sleep at home then fall asleep in the stands.
the Lindros KO is just something we all have to live with because at that time Head shots were deemed legal.

Thanks for saying as much. "Insufferable" is a perfect word.
The Chief Scout at the time Barry Fraser had much to do with the drafting so Sather can't be granted all of the credit in building the Oiler dynasty.
It was laughable that Sather was the voice for small market teams versus large market teams in his final days in Edmonton ("I've been a bit of a champion for some of the ideas in Canada's small-market teams. Maybe I can do it from a different point of view now," Sather said. http://www.canoe.ca/Hocke...Archive/jun1_rebuild.html) yet quickly dashed off to New York to blow millions.
Insufferable is a perfect word.
Some of the bad moves and spending folly is documented here

Abdelkader came really close SH before that goal. But Team USA is having a lot of trouble so far creating any room for itself.

Loved Abdelkader's moves, but the goalie's momentum took out his legs.
And now it's 1-1.

Tie game.... Bachman had little shot at that one. Good puck movement on that PP by Kazakhs. Team USA is paying a price for underestimating their opponent today. You can see it took half a game to realize they had a fight on their hands, and now the Kazakhs feel like they're in the game to win.

In terms of my personal playoff rooting interest, I am pulling for the Capitals for the rest of their run. This is primarily because I'd like to see Mike Knuble get a Cup ring and secondarily because of who their opponent is in this round.
This. |
