Bryz was standing on his head consistently in this series. He was a monster. He was easily the Flyers' best and most consistent player.
Just because he gave up goals doesn't mean he was bad or he wasn't "better" than Brodeur.
The last time Marty was consistently tested was game 1. In games 2-5 there were times when the Flyers would go 15+ minutes without a shot. And what was Bryz doing during those 15 minutes? Keeping the Flyers in it with tremendous play.
Bryz was AT LEAST "equal, and if not better than Brodeur". - Giroux_Is_God
Meh....not the series I watched.
Marty was not busy for a few reasons and it wasn't just the team in front of him (although they played great).
His rebound control is outstanding (always has been).
His handling of the puck makes him almost like a third defenseman out there. The D can then stand at the blue line and force the Flyers to dump it in. Marty is great at picking up the puck and getting it to the right player.
The puck handling is an intangible that is a big part of his game and makes him a better goalie for it. |

How dare you say that someone with a 3.46 GAA and a 0.887 save percentage in the playoffs was anything but amazing - Oilhab
Those numbers suck anyone can tell you that. However he did face the Pens in the first round which is probably the best offensive team in the league. |

However, that production may have taken its toll as reports out of Canada say Giroux may need surgery on one or both of his wrists this off-season.

No one here will tell you bryz was great in the playoffs, but he wasnt the reason they lost. Not sure why that's so hard for people to grasp. Must be tough to follow when your teams aren't in the postseason.

Im not saying he is the reason they lost, but that he was not on par with Brodeur even if Brodeur had an easy series. |

Yes, I must indulge in this conversation that you waited to have until the flyers were eliminated. So nice of you to wait util they were out to tell us how bad our goaltending was. |

At the end of the last series there were flyer fans bragging about how they averaged 5 goals a game and that they won't have to worry about playing against a good goalie as no one was even close to 3 goals a game.
Broduer didn't even have to be average, he just had to be there to stop that high powered offense. |

Any intelligent fans were not saying that, so I'm not sure why you'd even pay attention to those saying that. |

Actually a lot of Flyers fans were saying the opposite. That they would have to learn to win closer games because the games wont be as wide open as it was against Pittsburgh. |

The Flyers didn't even give him a chance to be average because they could not sustain any type of offense or forecheck. If you shut that down on any offensive team, the goalie will not be tested.
When the Flyers came close to Marty he fell over like he was shot out of a cannon.
