That's right, Rick Nash is coming to Toronto for Franson, Kulemin and a 2nd as you suggested.
- Unholy_Goalie
Nope...try again...
To even suggest Pitt trading Malkin at this point given Crosby's future being unknown is simply moronic. |

Nope....each other...like you suggested....remember?
That was afterall the only way you can justify the math...

Really?
Here's what I would do:
Goaltending:
Option 1: Trade for Lindback/Bernier (give up Schenn/Franson + Mac/Kuli)
Option 2: Sign a veteran back up & give Reimer another shot
Power Forward:
Option 1: Trade for Nash/JVR (give up Schenn/Franson + Mac/Kuli + 2nd rounder/Colborne/Kadri
Option 2: Sign Dustin Penner for cheaper than what he makes now
#1 Centre:
Draft Galenchuk - Pen15

Thanks for proving my point...I didn't say Franson, Kuli & a 2nd....you just decided to make up that combo.
Try again guppy. |

6 years, 36 million dollars would be fair for both him and the Penguins. They get him until he's 30, he gets 6 million a year for being a great two-way, 50-60 point center and he gets another shot at being a UFA to get another contract at the mid point of his career. - Unholy_Goalie
As I read through the threads it just gets better with you...
Simple supply + demand will get Staal $6.5-7MM....forget about the fact that he's a big 50pt centre playing on the 3rd line in a defensive role...or the fact that he's won a stanley cup...or the fact that he's 23yrs old...

which staal? you must be specific with that last name as there are plenty of them.
i hope burke keeps to his word this time around and makes some good hockey trades. i think this year he wouldn't hesitate to make the kadri kulemin for richards deal like he did last year. hes made it known he doesnt want old soon to be retired vet guys but young guys that can help, or young vets. i also dont want to see him run through our prospects just to make trades, only make smart trades which are fair both ways (usually hard to do but its possible). not many of our guys have value right now so burke will probably target guys who didn't have a great year last year a la chris stewart, paul statsny, andrew ladd (doubtful though), steve ott, devin setoguchi, alex burmistrov and james van riemsdyk just to name a few. they all had not that great regular seasons so i'm sure the asking price shouldn't be too high. - matt1337
I think making good hockey trades would be a good thing... But trading draft picks would not.... Keep our 1st draft Dumba tighten up the D and make some good hockey trades for forwards with grit and skill plus leadership etc... Mike Richards for Kuli and Kadri would be a no brainer, if he really did turn it down he deserves to be shot, i think thats just a rumor. |

As I said earlier, only a moron or a desperate GM would sign Staal to a 7 million dollar cap hit deal. He qualifies as both. - Unholy_Goalie
Only a moron, or a desperate GM would sign Grabovski to a 5 year 5.5 million per year deal, plus a no trade clause..........hummmm...........now we know why we're 26 with a bullit pointing down. |

Only a moron, or a desperate GM would trade their best player, for a 60 point winger who makes 7.8 million dollars. |

Nash still scores 60 points playing with Crosby? Great theory.
Oh and you forgot this part.
plus A LOT more to bridge the value gap between Nash and Malkin.

So wait, after ALL that arguing, 6 years at a 6 million cap hit is completely fair and reasonable, but only a million dollars more in cap hit over ANY duration is completely moronic and illogical? |

The Penguins most likely want Staal at 5 million a year. Staal most likely wants 7 million a year. As usual, the middle ground, is where they land. That's how negotiations usually work.
And it's not "only" a million dollars. It's a million dollars in cap space, which to the Penguins, is vital to keeping all their players. You also have to remember that the extra 1 million dollar cap hit, over six years, is an extra 6 million dollars in total value. So again, it's not "only" a million dollars. |

Kulemin, Macarthur, Gunnerson, Scrivens, Tyler Biggs for Nash.
In my point of view, scrivens value has risen to a good amount and tyler biggs was a first rounder. What do you guys think? we dont give up our 1st rounder this year 2012, we keep kadri, colborne, gardiner, schenn, blacker, etc our key prospects, giving up guys that can be replaced. |

What do the Leafs gain by doing this deal? Even if you ignore the fact that Columbus has almost zero use for half of those players and would never make that deal, the Leafs don't exactly get ahead on this deal either.
Kulemin and MacArthur can score 20 goals each. Right off the bat, that's the 40 goals Nash could or would produce. Add to that a 1st round pick prospect and one of their top four defenders plus a goalie with decent potential.
And, the Leafs don't address any of their needs. Still have no goalie. Still have no defense. Still have no center. Still have no true power forward. Nash is big but isn't exactly Milan Lucic in terms of physicality.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, the most the Leafs should pay for Nash is Lupul, Gunnarsson and Kadri. Columbus would never go for a deal like that but beyond that price, the Leafs are only hurting themselves by acquiring another player that doesn't fix their problems.
I will also add that if the Leafs were to acquire Nash, they would have to trade Kessel for a center. Having both of them is just redundant. |

I wanna ramble on some thoughts here..
1) We trade komi+ for luongo
2) Trade for stewart, we dont even have to trade big mac, he would cost cheap anyways
3) Trade kulemin, gunner, 2nd rounder 2012, armdog for stasny
lineup:
Kessel Stasny Lupul
Big Mac Grabo Kadri
Stewart Bozak Frattin
Crabbs Stecks Brown
Blacker Phaneuf
Gardiner Schenn
Liles Franson
Luongo
Reimer
Other notes:
1) Nash costs to much
2) staal is being resigned
3) perry and getzlaf are being resigned cause ducks have so much money
4) Throw money at parise and suter |

Maybe you should read.
He was talking about Grabovski. And he stated a few days ago that he would trade Kessel for Nash.

There is absolutely no rhyme or reason Pitt should trade Malkin. You can include the entire CBJ team in the package, it still wouldn't be worth it.
Trading a 109pt centre who will (in all likelihood) be the franchise of the team for years to come is simply moronic. |
