Jeff Carter (and Riley Cote) were nothing but polite and courteous to M4 and me... - Flyskippy
I met Carter once in a social (e.g. non-Flyers) setting and Cote probably a half dozen times in similar settings (we have a friend in common). Cote has been exceptionally down-to-earth and friendly every time I've met him. He and Giroux and I even did a shot together once.
Carter on the other hand acted like a stuck-up jerk. Also met Hartsy and Richards the same time I met Carter. Hartsy is as friendly and affable as he appears to be...Richards has the personality of a turnip. |

I think the trade of both carter and Richards did wonders for them.....they had become stale...I think it woke both of them up.
I will def root for the Kinga in the finals....but more for Gagne and Hextall than anyone else. - Pyzik
The trade of Carter to Los Angeles was the second trade. Didn't the initial trade to Columbus wake him up? Or did he wake up once he got to a better situation? You know after he sulked his way out of the Blue Jackets Organization.. |

The Howard injury fell into Ruben's lap
With Utley, you mean to tell me the team was caught offguard that his degenerative knee condition "suddenly" became a problem again right before spring training?
the fact that they didnt send a rep from the organization to Utley's home in the offseason to work him out and get an accurate read on his status tells me all i need to know - Crimsoninja
Utley...he should've been taken care of this during the offseason. |

I think a top D-line is the reason the Giants have won twice recently. I think the Heat will win many championships, just as the Lakers and Bulls did. I think, as I mentioned, that Shea Weber may give us the best chance at the cup. Absent that, Parise and Giroux and Hartnell look good to me. I think pitching always provides an advantage in baseball (Giants, Cardinals).
I think we have a good enough team to win now, but losing Pronger was a major blow. Really the Rangers and maybe Bruins were slightly ahead of us on an overall basis.
If you disagree with me, that is ok. It is ok to be wrong. But seriously, outside or Weber and Parise, what would you really do? - Daman
The Giants have also won due to the clutch QB play of Eli Manning. As well as key plays by other players on the offense. The Cardinals also won the World Series last year due to key hitting by player such as Pujols, Berkman, Freise, etc. The Phillies had great pitching the last two Seasons. How come they didn't win the World Series? Bottom line is that it takes a team to win. Not neccessarily the best team all Season. But the best team then. Such as the KIngs seem to be right now.
Your right that losing Pronger was a major blow. So your solution to that is to sign Parise?
You might be right. The Flyers may go afgter Parise. But I would look to use those major Cap assets to solidify the defense. |

Well I was hoping that the Yotes' won the Cup out of the four teams remaining. That's a pipe dream now, so whoever wins is going to annoy the (frank) out of me. |

Taken care of? Not sure exactly how you take care of a degenerative knee. |

I can't wait to see if the Kings can win it all. I'd be ecstatic if they did. Less then if it was the Flyers. But very happy about it indeed. |

Not sure how the Kings winning would mean anything to a Flyers fan. If Gagne was playing I would like to see him win, as well as Hextall being part of a franchise that wins, but that's the extent of it for me. Not sure why guys leaving Philadelphia and finding success elsewhere is something a fan should feel good about. but to each their own. |

basically by "working" on getting them better instead of waiting till spring training or extended spring training and during the year. Or the old yeller thing would work too |

The Utley of years passed is gone forever. At best he will be a semi-effective part time player going forward. That's best case scenario. |

The Kings are totally outclassing the Yotes. The Rangers/Devils series though low scoring, will be exciting hockey to watch imo. Especially for those who like watching a physical brand of hockey. - PLindbergh31

Signing Parise is to better the team in the most efficient way possible. My thoughts on Pronger is that he and Chara are the best D-men over the past 10-15 years. Throw in a couple others. So it is impossible to replace him, unless you get Chara (impossible) or Weber (not likely IMO but possible).
So my solution to sign Parise isn't to replace Pronger. It is simply the most realistic way to improve the team. I haven't heard anything to counter this.
Of course you need an entire "team" to win, but I would suggest that certain areas of excellence carry the weight more than other areas. Manning sucked a fatty against the 49ers, and they only won due to turnovers by the backup kick returner.
I see a lot of posts where I know you are intelligent. However, any backlash against signing Parise makes me want to categorize such protestors in the Corky category.

Well technically you are correct. The Sixers could lose the next three games in a row and the seasons would be equal. I meant I didn't see the Sixers winning a playoff round. Heck before the season started I didn't think they would make the playoffs. Doug Collins really has done an amazing job. Seems like it is under the radar because not many people care about the NBA. |

I would absolutely feel good about it. Poetic justice for Richards and Carter. They both deserve it. it would be awesome to see them skate the Cup around. I appreciate them both as players in the time they were here. |

I disagree that signing Parise is the most realistic way to improve the team. There are many ways to improve the team. Such as upgrading the defense. Whether that is making a move now, or signing a stop gap and making a move later. Or next off season. You don't make a move just to make a move. And in my opinion adding another top free agent at a position where there is already a lot of depth, and which is a strength of the team. Isn't the dierection I would take. It uses up precious Cap resources that will be needed. Now if you make some key trades of some Forwards to upgrade that defense. Then I would be open to signing Parise.
And lastly, I could care less where you categorize me.
