I would absolutely feel good about it. Poetic justice for Richards and Carter. They both deserve it. it would be awesome to see them skate the Cup around. I appreciate them both as players in the time they were here. - MJL
Poetic justice? Not sure how that's the case. The Flyers didn't trade them for the sake of just getting rid of them, they made two solid hockey deals that in Team Managements eyes was improving the team.
Maybe slightly in Richards case it is, but Carter was traded to Columbus and basically held the franchise hostage so he could land in a better situation for him. A classic example of a guy wanting to part of the problem, instead of the solution. |

Nothing to do with the Flyers and the trades. I have no problem with any of that.
It's the treatement of some of the fans towards the players. And the utter nonsense that has been said about them. As players and as people. |

Make no mistake about it, if Carter and Richards win the Cup, their resentment will be towards the Philly media, and Flyers Management, not the fans. |

Utter nonsense?
Carter and Richards were rightfully criticized by many Flyers fans, for both on-ice and off-ice issues. To say it would be poetic justice for them to win the Cup is ludicrous.
Instead, it would be a sign that those two learned a valuable lesson from their time and Philly - and subsequent trades - and rededicated themselves to being the best hockey players they can be. If that happens, good for them. |

I disagree that signing Parise is the most realistic way to improve the team. There are many ways to improve the team. Such as upgrading the defense. Whether that is making a move now, or signing a stop gap and making a move later. Or next off season. You don't make a move just to make a move. And in my opinion adding another top free agent at a position where there is already a lot of depth, and which is a strength of the team. Isn't the dierection I would take. It uses up precious Cap resources that will be needed. Now if you make some key trades of some Forwards to upgrade that defense. Then I would be open to signing Parise.
And lastly, I could care less where you categorize me. - MJL
Yeah, you can see how the high priced additions of Richards and Gaborik (Rangers) and Carter and Richards (Kings) are killing these teams. Why add elite players corky when you can add role players? |

Each team is different in the needs they have. Who said anything about adding role players?
And I will ask you nicely about not referring to me as corky. |

Shelley's contract slot is a bigger issue than his cap hit imo. |

I'll un-ban myself for 1 comment. This looks like an intelligent plan. Well done. Only 2 issues remain - getting Briere out and getting Parise in. So I agree with you in theory, but in practice there is likely a less than 5% chance of this.
Ok, ban back on and will not pop the cork on anyone else. |

Some of the stuff said about them was certainly ridiculous, but a lot of it was justified as well. A lot of players get criticized by their teams fanbase. That's nothing new, and it has nothing to do with poetic justice.
If they were so wrongly criticized by fans then they should have done something to prove people wrong while they were still playing for the orange and black, not a trade or two later. |

Yes he is. Remember rumors about him being traded? Since that time hes probably been the best player. Although I'm biased because I think Kopitar is ridiculous. |
