pronger used to play 30 minutes a night in the playoffs - flyerscup2011
But Pronger played on special teams too, which factors in.
Plus, Prongs is just a beast. If he can handle it, then why not roll him out there? |

Brodeur's been practicing?

C'mon, Brodeur acts like he's been shot if he smells a guy's Old Spice |

What does one guy playing 30 minutes a game have to do with playing the 6th d-man 4 minutes? |

I'd have a lot more interest in Jake Gardiner, considering how the Flyers defense is presently construed. - Jsaquella
Or Justin Schultz. |

Tortorella is an idiot. Nothing else needs to be said.
Vastly overrated, in my opinion. - Giroux_Is_God
I despise the guy, not sure he's overrated. He's got a pretty good resume, and his teams play hard for him. Not to mention he holds guys accountable. Gaborik was glued to the bench down a goal in the third period. |

I don't blame any of 'em, considering the refs can't tell the difference between goaltender interference and a defenseman shoving a player into him, especially from a vantage point 10 feet away.

if one guy is playing 30 of 60 minutes, it means someone is probably playing less than ten.
also, remember NICK BOYNTON playing a game or two for the hawks in the finals a couple years ago? there's a guy like that on every roster. how about bart/krajicek/parent for us in '10? |

I don't necessarily blame them, but when they whine about interference and then embellish when somebody breathes on them, it reinforces my hatred of the refs |

Yeah, but my point is the Rangers have played 16 playoff games already, and to win the Cup they are going to have to play at least 23 games. Doing that with 5 d-men is damn near impossible. |

Well, thats makes more sense but why not leave it to the teams to be cap-compliant if a LTIR moves off that category to active? Like in the regular season? - PT21
Because teams could take advantage of that and stash players on their team during the off season. The cap is not only about putting a leash on spending. But also about creating parity. The bigger market richer teams could have an even bigger advantage.

it depends on how much stamina their dmen have. pronger and niedermeyer did it consistently when anaheim won the cup |

Why does the Rangers 6th d-man play 4 minutes a game?
Great formula, play one 7 game series, after another, and play 5 dmen. - PLindbergh31
How has it been working for them so far to this point in the playoffs?

Well, Chris Lee was on the ice tonight. The odds were 50/50 for Lundqvist there. |

Gotta give Torts credit for doling out the accountability even in a crucial game. Gabriok doesn't do a good enough job on the point shot blocking, gets his butt glued to the bench. Everyone on the squad knows they better play hard at all times, or sit they will. |

Chara plays 30+ minutes a game. Who was the Bruins 4 minute a game defenseman in the playoffs last year? |

I guess I have to again explain how the playoffs work. Series are 7 games. The team that wins 4 out of 7, advances to the next round. Last years Cup winner had to win 3 game 7's. I wonder if there is an asterisk on the Cup for Boston stating that they had to win 3 game 7's. So therefore their Cup win isn't as good as the rest of the Cup winners?
