I agree on Harding...

Plus unles a trade happens, whoever comes in as goalie has to be on a two-way contract...And that wouldn't be Harding unless as a last resort.

I think a good goalie to sign on a two way contract (with 99.99% emphasis on him playing in Rockford) is Tyler Weiman. He's had some decent stats in the AHL and played well in Germany (DEL) last year. Carter Hutton would be a better option, but if he signs elsewhere then Weiman is a good option.

Edit: I just read that he signed a 2 year contract with a team in the DEL, unless he has an out clause to sign with an NHL team he's not going anywhere.

Am I crazy to think they can sign him for closer to 6.2-6.5 (long term of course) than the 7+ that people are talking about?

Definitely on the same page regarding Suter making them better and such

OK Al kind of answered that question just read his write up.

Suter looked real good with Rafalski as well... Though an elite defender and aging one in the Olympics, he did play well with someone not named Weber. He should be able to fit with a more mobile defender if necessary and Seabrook can obviously play with anyone and not suck.

All kinds of crazy possibilities.

I wasn't for the Campbell salary dump becasue I saw nothing back in return.

I do believe as you do Suter is a better all around player and most likely will be less than a $ 7 mill cap hit.

I do also believe a reason the Hawks will take a big swing is becasue they are looking to make a splash, in a good way.

If you recall I was never a believer in an austerity program...Big market, Cup intended clubs almost always have to spend close to the cap.

As has been written other places and mirrors my belief, big market teams won't be hamstrung by a new CBA....That's not to say the CBA won't change but the big mkt teams aren't going to get hurt more than others.

So I say, take your best shot and hopefully there won't be a work stoppage because as I wrote today that would be a profound mistake.

+1

I agree on Campbell for all the money saved Bowman did nothing with it. I would argue that the Hawks would have been a better team with Campbell and may have been able to at least win a couple of rounds with him.

I think it will be Hutton at first. He is the first goalie to have a .900 or better svpct in Rockford since Crawford and Niemi were there. Had a .917 and a 2.35 GAA in 43 games on a LOUSY team.

I bet we see him up for a game or two this year.
