With Bale, he's kind of slight, they've never cast Batman well anyhow and by "last one he could pull off" I meant physically not age wise. Brandon Routh was too small and slight and pretty. The new guy, Henry Cavill, at least looks like he could pull off the Man of Steel so I have hopes.

Not that Marvel has been better than 50-50 on Superhero movies but DC has been down right abominable with their offerings outside of the first Batman movie and Dark Knight unless you go all the way back to the 70s and the first two Superman before the went all hookey like they did with the first run on Batman.

I loved the late 80's first Batman installment, but I never could buy Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne. If they wanted to cast him as two face, I'm all in. But otherwise he didn't mess it up too bad as Batman although I liked the first movie as a whole.

The Batman supporting cast has been good though throughout. DeVito, Arnie, Jack, Tommy Lee Jones, Carey and Ledger were all good fits imo. My favorite Batman was Kilmer, but I agree that he wasn't the best fit for the role. I just like him as an actor.

I bet you have The Saint on DVD.

Arnold, Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carey are all excellent at what they do but were horrible in those movies mostly because the movies themselves were terrible. It was like a mockery of the Adam West Batman done without a sense of humour. A complete disgrace to the original Tim Burton Flick. Burton tried his best with Penguin and Catwoman in II but he obviously wasn't happy having both characters thrust on him and it showed. At least the tone remained and it was watchable.

so looks like we get to talk about trading JVR all summer long for the 4th yr in a row! Yipee

They haven't sold me that any Batman actor they picked was in peak physical condition. I'm a Batman nut so I'm always highly critical of the actors they choose. Nothing will ever be as egregious as the casting in Green Lantern.
