I cannot believe I am doing this but.......
Why would Bergevin consider a Kaberle buyout?
I was dead set against this acquisition when it happened and am still of the beleif that we are better off without him but a buyout would be beyond stupid.
A buyout for Kaberle would mean basically a $1.5 cap hit over the next 4 years. You can argue that this is not bad all things considering and we can easily overcome it but Kaberle scored 22 points in 43 games as a member of this team.
Over a full season that translates into about a 42 pt campaign.Had this pace maintained how many D-men would have had more points?
Offensively Kaberle is a top 20 D-man in this league putting him alongside guys like Yandle, Keith, Letang, etc....
Why simply give up on this to save $3 million for 2 seasons?
The solution to me assuming he cannot be dealt is to keep Kaberle and secure him by putting him with a defensively reliable D-man.
We have Markov with Emelin, Gorges with Subban, let's forget about regular ice time to Diaz and Weber and let's put Kaberle with a big right handed shot (or guy who plays the right side) who'll take care of play in his own zone.
If this was my team I would have him playing alongside Josh Gorges and then sign a guy like Jackman to play alongside Subban |

Agree with the no buyout, but not with the playing him. If we are stuck with him he should sent to Hamilton or playing limited minutes as a 7th dman. |

Twenty games was all Ryan White needed to leave his mark on the Habs’ lineup…and a few of his opponents’ faces.
Anyone knows how many of those games were losses? |

I wouldn't...unless Traitorsarek is in his last contract year (which I don't think is the case).
EDIT: wow...the bolded was my attempt at saying the last year of his contract. |

Plus Komisarek has a no move clause, no way he accepts a trade back to Montreal. |

No way......if you are going to bury him then might as well just buyout....it's only $1.5 million.
For me it's either deal him or put him in a position to suceed |

Do you plan on assassinate him?
He has 2 years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of 4.5M, 250K more than Kaberle. Make him play with Markov. |

I beleive the injury bug is attracted to smaller players. get bigger and we'll see less injuries |
