So it's an aberration if students are "forced" back to school, but nobody gives a poop if Air Canada pilots are hit by a special law...

Interesting...

- Pecafan Fan

in all fairness, it would have been (frank)ing hilarious to see a bunch of pilots in uniform rampaging through the streets.

I find it interesting that the federales would make a special law to force back the employes of a private company to work.

with the amount of money air canada has sucked from the government they should eat harper's poop if he tells them to.

also, a national aviation company ceasing to operate causes major economic disruption in a country therefore it's entirely justified for the government to get involved.

Yes but when air canada fired 3000 employees of Aveos in Montreal, even if their contract stipulated the maintenance had to be done in Montreal, the federal minister of transport kept saying : It's a private company now, nothing whe can do to force them to make their maintenance in Montreal.

So one week it's a national transporter and their pilots can be placed under a special law, the next week it's a private company and it's maintenance can be done in El Salvador.

Pilots on strike affect everyone traveling in the country, the national economy.

AC stops working with Aveos only affects some people in a province that voted NDP

I've only flown with a hand full of American carriers, mainly US Airways. They have been better than any experience on Air Canada. Except for that time they cut us off from the bar at 7 am, but that's another story.

They could stop their protectionnist policy and let Emirates and other transporters currently blocked to make more flights out of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver to pick up the slacks. Let the smaller more, efficient regional carriers like Porter handle the local flights

Porter is only after the most profitable destination, AC will be left with the losing destinations in the regions.

Amirates is a different story, they are not a private company being run to be profitable, they are government owned cie who brings all their passengers to Dubai to help keep the city running.
