I agree wholeheartedly. It is horrible how those horses are treated. For every Derby contestant there are a 1000 horses that are abused and treated in the most horrible ways.

Remember that Weber and Chara weren't UFAs. Vancouver, Philly and Detroit to name just the teams with money to burn, will be bidding against each other. I think you'll find the price will rise. Nashville could afford the 7 to keep him, they can't go much higher so to get him out of Tennessee someone will have to top 7. |

Wow. Thatd be awesome.
And what happens IF you go over the 10% cap limit over the summer? Or whats the percentage you're allowed to go over? Its 10%, isnt it? And that'd be 6.9 mill... - FLYERSROCK!
Yes, there's an allowance to spend 10% over the cap in the summer. But Pronger's hit counts. So does every one way contract in the system, like Bartulis and Matt Walker. Aslo, as soon as they make qualifying offers to guys like Voracek, they have to count that amount. That knocks it down to about $8mm, prior to re-signing Carle. |

I guess we'll see then.
I want Suter, but highest i'd be willing to go is 7 mill. |

It doesn't mean that they won't go after Suter, though. - Jsaquella
Especially if they find out that Timonen could miss the start of next season. Not saying that IS the case but if he needs multiple surgeries -- especially if one of them is back surgery -- the rehab could a lengthy one.
In regard to the Flyers' injury list, it is Joe Siville who will be handling the release once Holmgren gathers all the necessary information and gives to him. Joe said that he hopes it will be ready today, but can't promise it will.
The reason for the long delay: The Flyers are apparently waiting to get medical reports, a couple of second opinions and for Holmgren to talk to all of the players involved, which from second-hand indications could be as many as nine or 10. Rather than announcing them piecemeal, they'll do it all at once.

Thanks. Thats what I figured.
It would be nice to get Justin Schultz, but again thats a pipe dream. Poor Anaheim cant keep any good prospects. trade Gardiner to TO then lose Schultz. |

I expect it to be a long list. It could be tricky bringing Kimmo back if they add a contract for $6mm or more. |

One Canadian slaughter house that deals in horse flesh put down 5000 animals last year from thorough bred racing breeders. Horses can live 30+ years but 90% of race bred horses are put down before their 5th birthday. I don't know how people can blindly watch that filth in their hats with their fancy drinks. |

Makes sense. Still, curiosity is pretty strong. We should have a fantasy hockey injury league and give points based on naming the right player, the right body part, and the length of rehab. |

Agreed. I'd even go up to about $7.25 M for Weber. There are only two player in the NHL who could fully replace everything Pronger brings on the ice. One is Weber, the other is Chara. So if there's any possible way to get a franchise defenseman who is still in his 20s, you do it and figure out the rest around him and Giroux as your cornerstones. |

As opposed to watching hockey and football players smash their heads in and deal with depression and PCS for years. |

I like Suter as well, but I can't see paying him elite money. Weber, yeah, I can see paying him elite money and building the defense around him |

Those are working horses. They aren't bred to break down nor are they destroyed needlessly. While I'll pass I have less bile for the people who work that circus act. |

Well, what could end up happening if things play out that way (Timonen faces long rehab, Suter or other huge $ defenseman added) is Timonen would be held out for half the season, and then the club would only need to free up a pro-rated $3 M or so when he'd come off LTIR.
Of course, it is way premature to actually *predict* anything like that. We don't even the specifics with Timonen yet.

I think that he's already agreed to terms, and they're waiting for the new cap to come into effect to announce the deal. Bill Meltzer says it looks like it'll be just south of $5mm per - Jsaquella
Ah I see. This summer will actually be kinda slow for the Flyers I think. Other then Carle and Voracek there isn't many more that need signed. |

Yep. It should be. Of course at the draft when Holmgren trades JvR & Schenn with 2 1st rounder for Shea Weber... |
