Though Neal is 2 years older and followed a different path to the nhl (OHL versus NCAA) it is not that far of a stretch to compare the two otherwise. Ill be happy if JVR scores 25-30 goals this upcoming season. I don't think that is out of the question at all. - MBFlyerfan
He scored 20 already right? So I wouldn't think 25-30 is out of the questions by any means. Any news on how his foot was after the playoffs? Has it fallen off? hah. He was relatively health before this year. |

Just by the way he played when he came back I would doubt that any of his injuries were fully healed.

He has all the talent to do it and can be a dominate player. Would like to see him be that type of player on a consistent basis (and stay injury free). |

Hell be fine. Half of his injuries this year were faked to avoid being traded, anyway. |

I forgot about that conspiracy theory that was going around. Is it safe to say he will be injuried next January and February then? |

No, he had unrequired surgery just to make the broken foot thing seem real. |

Wow, that is some hardcore dedication to not play so he doesn't get traded! If only JVR displayed that kind of commitment on the ice!

JvR battled injuries almost the entire year. It's really being short sighted to think 2011-12 is a typical season for him.
It's not being too rough to demand more out of him, at least in terms of consistency...of course, I think he's going to end up playing with Giroux, so it should be easier. |

[url="/blog.php?post_id=44485"]Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Can Flyers Sign Voracek to Multi-Year Deal?
I lost count of the number of times, the team was able to work the puck to a wide-open Voracek for a one-timer or snap shot either near the right point or at the hash marks in the right circle. Time after time, he'd flub the shot or drill it way wide of the net from a good shooting angle.
- bmeltzer
Do you know who else I noticed flubbing a ton of those kinds of shots this season? Voracek's idol/mentor...
FWIW I am on board with giving Jake a raise. His two-way play makes up for his poor shooting (which can only improve).

and he had Bryz do it so that there was a good possibility it would never heal and he could remain a Flyer in perpetuity, eventually taking over Blair Betts coaching role. |

Yeah I wasn't saying he was injury prone by any means. He played 70 plus the two years previously. I thought he was going to have a third year like Girouxs. I am basing this off of Giroux having a awesome playoffs and followed that up with good 2010-2011 season and JVR did extremely well in 10-11 playoffs so I was thinking he would come out 11-12 and do well. This could have still happened if it weren't for the injuries. |

Very true. Timonen likely retires, and if the new CBA eliminates the over 35 rule or changes it to allow the Flyers to drop Pronger's cap hit, that's $11mm or so in freed up cap room for summer signings. Add in the end of the Shelley and Walker deals and that's another $2.8mm in summer space. - Jsaquella

Time for the Memorial Cup to watch draft prospect Griffin Reinhart & Henrik Samuelson of the Edmonton Oil Kings.
Both sons of former NHL players. |
