Have I said that. There is a long, long, long way between jeff petry and "a god". If you perceive someone saying better than petry is saying they're a god, then I suggest you might be the one with the issue. - prock

I assume if we said he's better than jeff petry, that must mean he's in bobby orrs territory. That seems to be what you're implying. |

my point is leaf fans overrate all of their players.
go read what i said before...... didn't mention Petry's name at all. Just basically said leafs fans over value their players. |

Hes saying a large number of Leafs fans overrate prospects on a regular basis a la Pogge, Stajan, Tlusty, Kadri etc. Anyone whos spent time on boards anywhere knows this to be the truth. Not all of you, but there are a LOT of kool-aid addicts in Leafs Nation. |

What are you 12? First you are too lazy to look up facts, then you fall back to the oh Gardiner had a better +/-, you get crushed on both counts now you go here? Geez, you are like a car crash that you just can't stop looking at!
Your comprehension is sad, really sad... explaining it really does seem to be pointless. |

I think he'll be a 2nd pairing guy, maybe better if he continues his progression.
can play specialty teams too... he's a keeper, much like Gardiner is for the Leafs. - robin_steele264
Good post.
I just cant understand anyone saying petrys potential is a 3rd pairing guy.
His skill set far exceeds that.
Did they watch him play? Cause it sure doesnt sound like it.
It almost seemed like he broke out overnight at a certain point this season.
Hes still prone to defensive errors, but there were many nights where he was fantastic and by far the oilers most dynamic defenceman.
Either way its close and leaf fans of course are overrating jake. Gardiner is certainly not way better than him at this point. |

Snap! Longbottom loses it!
I can't really comment on the comparison of Gardiner vs Petry but I will say Petry over the year improved tremendously.
PRV I would have to disagree with the comment of the Oilers still being high on him. I don't believe the Oil will have any room for him in the top 6 ala Omark. He will be packaged in a trade eventually.
As far as becoming a power forward in OKC it is not happening. I seen them live a few times this year and he has been far from it. - Cheech in Texas
Extremely shortsighted.
Development isnt always linear, nor the same for every player.
I think because the other 3 adapted so quickly, some now feel prv never will.
I cant see why the oilers wouldnt still be high on him with the tools he possess.
To say its never gonna happen is ridiculous.
I will however agree with the power forward comment.
In alot of ways, his qualities are the exact opppsite of a power forward.
It seems if you just have abit of size, people will use that label.
Prb isnt overly physical and probably never will be.
He doesnt go through guys, he skates around them.
And at this point struggles in the dirty areas. He needs open ice. |
