Trade Franson and Lombardi. - optimus-reim
I wonder if that Lebda kid is available. I hear he's a game changer. Potential 2-1 trade? |

I have instant respect for this blog based on the fact that Augello seems to be the only blogger on this site that can spell Schultz correctly. On that basis alone, he should sign in TO. |

I want that Slaney guy too...how about a three way trade?
To TOR: Slaney, Lebda
To CBJ: Franson
To Montreal: Lombardi
>Montreal gets another great contract and bottom 9 player. Makes them an instant playoff performer.
>Columbus gets another tall PP quarterback so they can pretty much guarantee a Conference Final showing.
>Toronto gets some much needed defensive depth from Lebda, man can that can dangle and stuff. Also a great 3rd line checker who's looking more and more like Darren Helm everyday. We might as well plan the parade. |

I know, even the Anaheim blogger spells it wrong. |

works for this guy
Phaneuf-Franson
Schultz-Gardiner
Liles-Schenn
trade Gunnarsson & Komisarek? bam. However TO really does need that #2 beside Phaneuf. Schultz could become that one day. If Whitney doesn't resign with the Oilers he could be a very good option. I really wouldn't mind a vet on the blueline,. But there are bigger and better things to spend our money on.
Edit: Whitney has another season with the Oil, but you know what I mean. In the hiiiighly unlikely scenario, a guy like Murray would be monumental.
Phaneuf-Murray
Schultz-Gardiner
Franson-Schenn
now that's a blueline I can get behind |

I love this website. Edmonton's blogger is literally crazy, Eklund is Eklund, Mike Augello gives a majority of our roster B's, LA's blogger hates his own team in the regular season and is now willing to bend over for the whole team and their AHL affiliate. |

Schenn on the bottom pairing? I'd rather send him and Franson in a mega package for Stastny or something. Liles and Holzer would be a good third pairing IMO! |

indeed they would be.
If Schultz gets signed I think you see Burke relax quite a bit, gives him lots of options for sure. Dunno if I trade Schenn for Stastny, let alone with Franson in there. You got Phaneuf, Schenn, Komisarek, and to a lesser degree Franson for size on the blueline. Trading 2 of them really makes it a soft blueline and I don't think that's Carlyle's style.
and Schenn on the bottom pairing is just me filling in names. Hard to justify putting any of those guys on the bottom. We have 1 - 1st D, and 4 - 3/4 guys. And 1 komisarek. |

I am all for this happening. Schultz playing with Gardiner, sets up a nice problem. We could deal one or two of these other young defencemen, to either move up in the draft and or, make a trade for a good young forward. How about we see if we can do the Van Reimsdyk deal for Schenn and move Gunnerson in a trade to move up to the second pick in the draft. Then we can draft the first line centre, Alex Galchenyuk that we need to move forward. Schultz is young enough, that he could fit right in with this age group moving forward. It's doable and would make a huge difference moving forward. |

I agree except for the Van Reimsdyk deal. I would much rather put Schenn into a bigger trade then get a soft forward. Hopefully Gunnarsson would be enough to move up.
I don't really mind too much what Burke does this year in the draft. Forsberg seems like the %60 odds, Grigorenko seems to be falling and that should increase his odds to the Leafs (has mainly been the best Center in the draft up until recentely) %20, Galchenyuk %10, trading down for Faksa %5, or trading up for Galchenyuk %5. Only scenarios I could see happening.
More so I would much rather he trade some of our assets for next years draft. Having 2-3 1sts could get you up to the top 5 which all are Yakupov-level, if not better. |

What if we did Franson and Schenn for Pickard, Gaunce and Stats?
I think that's a low ball offer on our part so I imagine picks would be involved.

I'd rather try and pry Couts away from Philly. Not gonna happen though. |

I read it doesn't get much more "untouchable" for any player on the Flyers than Coutourier Got a better chance for Schenn ehggghh |

One slight correction Mike - money won't be much of a factor at all in this scenario. Schultz will be still be obligated to sign an ELC contract. His base salary maximum regardless of what team he signs with will be (I believe) 875K. Of course, Toronto can offer him the maximum bonuses, but so can everyone else - especially since no one ever hits those bonuses (or at least 90% of them).
-
That's kind of what makes this scenario so intriguing. It's not like he's truly a free agent in the sense that the highest bidder will land his services. Other teams have nothing to offer that Anaheim doesn't. He just wants to choose the team he signs with. With that in mind, Gardiner's quote seems all the more important in this whole little scheme. |

Yes, it's like tampering, without tampering. |

No use for Pickard really, going to be a good goalie, but Scrivens has our G prospect pool locked up, Owuya looked really good too. Don't know much about Gaunce, doesn't seem like anything we're in need of.
A stastny trade is really hard to predict as I've talked with a few Avs fans. I believe Connolly would have to be involved, A) to somewhat replace points and B) relieve salary from our side. But apparently the owner doesn't have money issues so guys who are high cap and low salary may not be as attractive as we thought. Avs need wingers so MacArthur might be a guy they are interested in.
Connolly + MacArthur + 2nd for Stastny? |

Pickard will be our goalie of the future after Scrivens and Owuya are worn out. Think of Washingtons abundence of NHL calibre goalies. I meant Siemens not Gaunce. Got caught up in the moment. He's a big defensemen who loves to hit and has a solid two way game. 6'3 and 205 at the rype age of 18. A project for sure but he could be a Phaneuf 2.0
If that's what it took to land Stastny I'd do it in a heartbeat, no doubt. |
