Pretty hypocritical of Torts to be ripping the Devils for setting picks, when there is nobody in the league that sets more picks than Ryan Callahan. Callahan has elevated it to an art form, but he still sets a ton of picks every game.

Or you could call it comical, as Deboer did. Both correct imo.

Tried using Google's "search by image" feature to see if it would help me solve that "Who does he look like?" mystery in my head. Here is the picture I used from Yahoo:

Here are the results:

It's crystal clear DeBoer looks like the gnomes on World of Warcraft.

it would roll over if they were going to OT. otherwise, no. you're asking for more of a penalty for taking one late in a game and i can't get behind that.
- Don'tForgetTocchet

But Im not. You are saying a penalty at the end of a game is LESS than a normal penalty.

If a team up by one goal takes a 2 minute penalty with six seconds left, how does that reward the team getting the power play? It doesn't. I am not asking for more of anything. Im asking for the two minutes the power play should be for.

i know this is totally out of left field and many will totally reject this idea, but....
i think the flyers should change their colors and/or logo. orange and black is the color combination with the highest contrast and that may have something to do with the team constantly having goalie problems. also, maybe the refs will forget we were the broad street bullies and actually give the team a fair shake. crazy idea, i know. i'm aware colors are important for teams, but it's been a hell of a long time since this franchise captured the ultimate goal and maybe changing the uni's could change karma.

It's okay the Memorial Cup is on. More time to watch Michael Houser (PA native towards Pittsburgh) & Olli Määttä.

Of course you can also see the good prospect 6'7" d-man Jarred Tinordi (property of Montreal)

You think Maatta might drop to 20?

Tinordi is a mountain.

Didn't know it but they said it last night Max Domi (yes Tie's son) doesn't typically take a pre-game skate due to being a serious diabetic.

The logo and colors are Iconic in hockey. You might as well suggest the Canadiens or Yankees change logos and colors.

There is only two other orange and black teams in all of pro sports. And when people say "The Orange and Black", they don't think of the Bengals or the Orioles, they think of the Flyers.

SF Giants.

And no, you don't change the logo or the colors.

Reading Sheridan's article this morning all I could think about is what we say here all the time about the Philly media, they constantly make the story about them.

then, BAM!

The first post in the comment section is none other then: John!

Good work by you, sir.

The majority of the media is terrible today. It is harder and harder to find good reporting and no me, me, me soap opera BS.

I understand that the media has a job to do. I further understand that the media is NOT supposed to be waiving pom poms and cheering the teams blindly. There's times when the media has the right-and duty- to be negative.

That said, I'm so sick and (frank)ing tired of the media complaining when a coach, player or executive doesn't answer every single question the reporter asks. Reporters demand unlimited access and when somebody decides that they have an issue they want to either keep private or simply not talk to the media about they get ripped.

Look at Tortorella. I think he's a schmuck, but by making his refusal to talk to the media the story, his team has been able to ignore the media and focus on playing.

In the situation Sheridan wrote about, the Phillies used a standard treatment protocol to treat a minor injury to a star player. Cortisone shots are not some kind of half-assed experimental treatment. They are commonplace.

A columnist decides that obviously the Phillies made a mistake in their treatment, and when the Phillies decline to be interviewed or contribute to the story, the columnist writes a story filled with innuendo and opinion and spare on the facts.

When the Phillies respond about the factual issues the story has, they get shredded by a journalist who took the opportunity to write yet another "Woe is the media" story complaining about how difficult it is to get paid to watch sports for a living
