It is now confirmed by the player himself that he tried to play through a meniscus tear in his hip, an oblique tear, a concussion and a groin pull, in addition to a late-season broken foot. It also turned out that, during the Flyers-Devils playoff series, JVR's surgically repaired foot became infected and had to be drained of fluid. - bmeltzer

Campbell's Cup? - Jsaquella
Not to be confused with the apparatus of the same name that Shanny inherited when he took over as Czar of Discipline.
You know, the one designed to absorb attempted knees to the groin.

Remember when we were all excited that Shanahan would come in and be better than Collie? Those were some good times. |

On the day after Parise lit up the Rangers, maybe we can have an anti-intelligence respid.
Talbot and Coots should easily be 2/3 of our 3rd line.
Everyone else does this, now it's my turn
Harts Briere Parise
JVR Giroux Schenn
Talbot Coots Simmonds
Rinaldo Read Wellwood
Seeing if people read this whole thing - flip Briere and Giroux. - Daman
So subtract Voracek and Jagr, add Parise?
Id would be more inclined to trade JvR for Luke Schenn+... then add Parise...
I dont know how to copy the capgeek thing so Ill type it manually.
With the cap expected at $69mil and a Bonus Cushion (i hope this is put into the next cba)
Hartnell (4.2)- Giroux (3.75)- Parise (6.5)
Simmonds (1.75)- Briere (6.5)- Read (900k)
Schenn (3.1*)- Coots (1.375)- Talbot(1.75)
Rinaldo (544k)- Campbell (1.25)- Wellwood (580k)
Sestito (605k)
Timonen (6.3)-Carle (4.5?)
Coburn (4.5)- Grossmann (3.5)
Meszy (4)- Schenn (3.6)
Pronger (4.92**)- Lilja (737k)
Bryz (5.6)-Bob (1.75)
Salary Cap $69,000,000
Salary Cap Payroll $72,173,373
Bonuses $3,555,000
Salary Cap Space 381,627
* Schenn is adjusted thanks to bonus cushion, however, will never make his bonus.
** Will be put on LTIR at start of season which would open up nearly 5 mil
!!I DO NOT KNOW HOW THAT 10% OFF-SEASON SPENDING THING WORKS!!
!!JUST FOR FUN!!

Yep! Some of the rulings have been downright confusing. Giroux gets a game for a hit 1/10th as severe as Neal's hit on Couturier. Torres (who, granted, is an idiot with a track record) gets 25 games for the same hit. The Weber indident, the Chris Neil incident, etc, etc. I get that it's a tough job and that they really seem to have established standards. It's in applying said standards that they've fallen way short. |

Great stuff on Talbot. In my opinion he would make great captain material if Giroux were not quite ready/willing to take on that role.
Talbot is a glue guy and.............sorry, I just got distracted by the "Date Hot Asian Girls" ad on the right side of the screen.....
What was I saying?

For a Quick & dirty explanation: every one way contract counts against the cap in the summer. So, Pronger, Matt Walker, etc count.
So, with a $69mm cap, the Flyers can actually have $75.9mm on the cap in the summer, which has to be under $69mm when the season starts. Under that $75.9mm, teams also have to count any qualifying offers made to RFA's. So, if they offer Jake a standard 10% QO, they have to count his deal against that $76.9mm, too. |

I remember now....if anyone questions JVR's drive or toughness ever again in here, I will round up a posse, drive to your house, and take you to task for your ignorance. |

He infected his own foot, so he wouldn't look as good to teams trying to trade for him. |

ok... so in essence it would still work (after doing quick math).
That would be a pretty sexy lineup |

He also took an icepick to his own hip and abdominal wall, but that is beside the point. It takes a pretty tough dude to skewer yourself like that to avoid playing so you don't get traded.

Yeah, I'd like to keep Jake...also, if there is a bonus cushion, they'll have more room during the season. |

If he even stays moderately healthy next season it will be like adding a big time free agent. That is my prediction. |
