I always get envious at this point. Then I wonder how far away the Flyers actually are from contending. I dunno if it's a talent gap or a timing issue as far as when a team hits their peak, or both. I just don't recall them playing with the tenacity shown by these 2 teams as well as the Eastern teams. So if its not a talent issue, then how do you get a team to mature into what we're seeing in LA? The process happens every playoff with the teams that make the finals, and it's what makes the NHL playoffs so remarkable. - aosplayo

carter makes that happen by hitting the net. sometimes that all you have to do. - hammarby31
Carter is continuing his oh so torrid playoff scoring ... 9 pts in 14 games. That is a whopping 0.64 points/game! With this postseason he has actually brought his career record up to 0.5 points per game. Screw him. He is still a soft, inconsistent playoff chump. |

JR you dont turn on the ice with your leg out that far, give it to him milbury. that was a cheap knee to knee hit (missed knee but to me its the same thing cuz full attempt was there). should be a suspension, but it wont be. - dillpx183
Gotta go with JR on this one. JR played just like Brown and JR is still a pretty level headed fan of the game. |

Exactly. That's an attempted elbow to the chin, and he ends up leading with the knee.
On a play blown dead.
Then 2 minutes later Doughnut Doughty smashes his stick like a peewee. For the 11th time in 5 minutes.
Get the (frank) out.
And if the Devils lose??
I hate both these teams. I'm a Flyers fan. Do I have a choice?
But this game....this series....it overshadows EVERYTHING. |

If the Rags make the Finals, they will have played, the #8,7, and 6 in the East, and the # 8 in the West.

he hasn't had a good post season, but had a decent game tonight. it doesn't matter what he does. he could be a -33 and if the kings win the cup all people will talk about is the trades and how the flyers lost them. |

For some reason my hate for the Penguins isn't close to what it is for the Rags, or Devils. After all the cheap shots from Neal, Asham, and Malkin, I do dislike the Penguins more than ever now.
I don't really hate Crosby, never have really. |

Seeds go out the window once the playoffs stats, Ottawa, Washington, NJ and LA obviously all played very well in these playoffs. |

I don't care what they talk about. Holmgren didn't trade carter to LA. It was Columbus who lost on the Carter deal...twice.
The Flyers are positioned well for the foreseeable future thanks in large part to unloading Carter. I miss Richards as a player (not Carter though) but I can see why Holmer was willing to let him go because of the questions around his captaincy. I am on the fence with who "won" that trade because Simmonds is a real nice player in the present who still may have some untapped potential. Schenn could be a star quality player. We'll see. Even if LA raises the cup I don't think Homer lost in those deals. |

On a night when the Kings made it to the SCF, this thread still has twice as many posts as Berry's. I don't know what that means. |

My view is this...
Many (Including current members on this board) were all over Ray Emery for partying and not taking Hockey serious enough after and during his Stanley Cup run. Not many Flyers fans wanted him on this team until it was announced IN JUNE 09 that he would be signing here. Richards and Carter aren't the exception. They're gifted hockey players who aren't always serious about hockey. There is no excuse for it. They're players who get paid top dollar to be top centers for their team and they aren't. I like Carter and Richards but I have no doubt in my mind that they're both overrated. They should be number 1 centers but they're secondary scoring for the kings and they were in the last season they were with the Flyers.
With this said, the Kings are a good team. Go Kings. (frank) the Devils and the Rangers. - roenick97
They sure looked like they were secondary scoring for the Kings. Involved in a go ahead goal in the 2nd. And on the game winner in OT that sends the Kings to the Cup Finals. Yep, definitely secondary scoring.
