wouldn't it be wise for the yotes to take a guy like Wilson, Di Giuseppe or Kerdiles?
- tomburton99

In my mock, two of those guys are gone already, and Di Giuseppe isn't a first rounder in my book.

Predicting 3rd overall. Faksa at 4. Koules at 10

hehe... if Faksa goes 4th, then Burke and the Leafs brass will just go up to the mic right after the isles take him and say there is no point in being there anymore and leave.

most teams use BPA right? i find it hard to belive a team like the yotes take another blueliner.

That's what everybody thought last year, and making the trade for Rundblad At that late there aren't anything but undersized forwards or project guys, so unless they take a goalie (Oh please Vasilevski), they'll go with D. Phoenix hasn't produced a star forward since...

hmm

Its not his ability that is my concern. I don't think he has it upstairs to win big games. Until I see him prove it, I will continue to believe that. Goalies have to have that ability to shrug off bad goals, bad games. He doesn't seem to. I also keep in mind he has played for excellent teams and not been able to hold the fort. If he figures it out upstairs, he's fine technically, but the upstairs part is the hardest thing to fix.

I was a believer early on and I've shifted my views.

Not only because of the World Juniors, but even seeing him against London in the Finals this year. That Austin Watson goal to open the scoring the night London won sealed the deal for me. He just doesn't have it.

He was weak against Ottawa too. For the supposed pedigree he has, you expect him to make the routine saves look easy and he just looks like he gets rattled and is bouncing around trying to get hit by the puck. I'm not sure how you get that out of him.

all jokes aside, I'll readily admit I was wrong about Turris. I had an impression of who he was as a player and despite pretty much seeing 2-3 games of his as a Coyote, I stuck to them. He's a complete player and he's a smart player. I am really looking forward to a full training camp and see how he fairs coming out of the gate as a Sen. The Spezza/Turris/Smith trio down the middle is a very exciting trip to build around.

" He'll need to continue to add mass to his lower body "

I didn't think that kinda thing mattered in Hockey B-Hud.

I personally likes what I read on the kid. Seems like a dumba type player with a bit more weight behind him. Good offensive numbers too, pretty close to dumba. He is about 8 months older tho. Might be worth a 2nd rounder on him. Sweet last name considering he's a decent scrapper.

I meant to his legs. Add strength down low helps better when pinning opponents and trying to win board battles.

We'll call him a "B-Hud Stud".

Reminds me of Bieksa. Strong, and very physical. Almost relishes stepping up in the neutral zone. Very mobile guy who can weave through traffic up the ice with head fakes. Has a bomb of a shot. Likely fits into a 3 hole to play big minutes, but not anchor a blueline.

A Francois Beauchemin type.

huddle, thoughts on Pearson, Winther, and Nieves

On the penguins blog, 3 mock drafts have the penguins taking one of these guys.

I still think the penguins should go after wilson or Guance but i expect them to be gone by #22.

Hey Brian, I went to see the rankings on FC, why is Maatta ranked so low?

Check out the mock as it has a big blog on Nieves.

Pearson is one of those "can do everything well" but nothing great types. Needs to improve his skating, but he has good hockey sense and seems to be in the right place at right time.

Winther surprises me... I have him really low-- down in the 70 range on my board. He's a speedster who lacks size, but has a pro style shot. Gets knocked off the puck way too easily though.

Some of the other OHL Scouts aren't as high on Maatta as I am, and believe he doesn't have the upside to be much more than a 4-5 type defenseman, with limited offense.
