a hit on Toews that not only got Toews a penalty but Phoeniz scored on that power play. He has been outstanding in his play this year but the guy is far from respectable. - Snake_eyez918
That reminds me of the slash on Brown where he took out his knee and Brown got a penalty for it... The only thing was Kopitar scored anyway, so we got the last laugh...
I actually think Smih is the dirtiest goalie in the game, it's not about diving or embellishing, it's about just attacking guys for no reason. Granted given he's never told not to, I don't blame him for doing it while he gets away with it, I just find that he complaining about that, is very hypocritical...
Same with Hanzal given he was suspended... I lost a lot of respect for Doan as well. Yandle is just a moron...
It's a shame, I know they're just frustrated, but they should be embarassed for their comments. Mad about the hit or not, they're not angels, they shouldn't talk. |

Prove to me that there was no funny business going on? Once the announcement of a new owner happened, guess what happened - Phoenix didn't win the series they were in.
The whole season is a farce - LA should have won the division.
Stop playing into Bettman's hand. Come out and tell the truth! Everybody. - powerenforcer
Actually the announcement was made prior to game 5 of the Nashville series. We all know how that turned out.

If it wasn't for most of the other bloggers on this site, well, pretty much all of them actually, French would be my favorite.

Great blogs, i really enjoyed them.
The officiating is getting worse as the games go on.
Mike Smith should keep quiet.. last night he was throwing punches while a king was laying on the ice with a coyote on top of him.
As for Browns hit, I believe it was Doan whom after the Hossa hit was quoted as saying that if you dont like getting hit get out of the game... priceless
And I believe the only reason the stands are not full at a phoenix game is because if your there you dont get to see the twins behind Tipppet
finally just wanted to comment and hear others opinions on the play continuing after Smith lost his glove. I believe the play should go on, not because I want to see a player get hurt but you know the second the leauge says that play will be halted when a goalie loses a glove you will see all goalies tossing them off as soon as a fire drill starts happening in their own end.

Yeah man. Even in the same division, they were the team I respected most.
Lost a lot after the crying. They can make it up if they admit they were being Doughty's. But I doughty they do that. |

Now that the Yotes have lost, the REALITY of the situation comes into play. The "announced" possible deal during the playoffs, was simply a ticket sales push to gain the city of Glendale some additional cash AND to maybe sucker them into ponying another 25 mil for next year to buy the NHL yet more time. Bettman does NOT wish to lose that market, but facts being facts, even last night there were noticable holes in the crowd. Jamison has long been a friend to bettman and the league. However even if he was actually THAT stupid with his and his investors cash, he would need a 100% lease agreement that totally favored him and his investors. Glendale will NOT/CANNOT keep footing this bill. If they don't control the revenue from Jobing, it's the same thing as ponying up 25mil a year for nothing. Their city council has had enough. The Jamison deal will be announced as DEAD within 3-5 days.
It was going to happen. Why cause hockey in Glendale is a losing situation no matter what. The teams supporters all live where they shoulda stayed, PHOENIX. Ottawa can get away having a rink in timbucktoo, but Arizona cannot, especially when the fanbase you built wanted no part of the move to glendale. Hockey in Phoenix CAN work. Hockey in Glendale is both idiotic and FUTILE. The Yotes will be moving to Quebec the day after the cup champ is announced. And that team has one helluva future in front of it much like when the Avs split there in the first place. Maloney with a real budget next year should be a shue in to have that team in the mix in the weak east. The lesson here is A) never trust a word Bettman says, and B) never build a ice rink in the desert a bazillion miles away from your fanbase. It just doesn't work...... |

They're human beings expressing their frustration. I don't see the problem? I want my players emotionally invested in the game. They're speaking up on behalf of their teammate. I'm not sure what you expect the leaders on the Yotes to say? |

There is no rule about stopping the play after a goalie loses his glove. Only the helmet. It doesnt really happen alot. But it might be something that gets looked at to add in there. But it would be to easy for goalies to get free frozen plays by dropping the glove when there is traffic in theyre crease. Goalies would just about be able to add free time outs for theyre teams. Also why not all the time when a goalie loses his mask they dont whistle it down every time. |

Also, good read French. Your one of the better writers here. You and Yost. There are always terrible calls. Some times theyre evened out. Some more for others than your own. The nature of the game. Brown hit isnt that big a deal. Like you said if they didnt score right away we wouldnt even be talking about it. Like Bob McKenzie said. Brown didnt lead his leg or move it to hit him with leg to leg. His leg was in a straight line the whole time. Not to mention it was shoulder or body contact first so the incidental leg contact pretty much negates itself. |

Well I understand that, but there's such a thing as accountability, and such, even if they felt that's the case, when the leadership (and that starts with the coaches and management) sit and whine about reffing it sets a bad example and that trickles down.
Leaders sometimes have to just swallow what they want to say, to set the example. I would be frustrated too, I like to see my players have passion. I love when Drew gets really fired up and animated over something because it really shows he cares... But I also love that Scuderi, the veteran guy, went to calm him down a bit and told him to leave it between the whistles.
For Doan, and Tippet to whine about the reffing, I just think it's a little unbecoming off leaders. It's like the military, I expect a private to sit and female dog about things, but the Platoon Leaders and Platoon Sergeants to be the professionals and set the example. Maybe it's just me, I just lost a little respect for them is all. I still think Doan is a great player, and Tippet is a great coach, don't get me wrong, but they went down a few notches in my book. Not that they care of course, but either way.

Good, rational analysis.....while all the fuss last night was entertaining, Phoenix really lost this series with their poor performances in games 1 & 2.....
Sorry to see Yandle and Smith embarrass themselves with their post game comments ("we have no owner to back us up ? " that's weak.....), but in a few days no one will care..... |

Nice, unexpected read. Someone pointed out the twins behind the Yotes bench a while back, I will miss them. Maybe we will see them next season.
As far as the post game comments go, I think Yotes had alot of emotion flowing and were a little stunned. I was pulling for them up until this series. Smith's goal tending was great but he made an ass of himself off ice with his comments after all his antics.
The officiating was pretty bad but it was not in either teams favor. The Delay of game penalty on doughty was bad and the yotes scored on that PP, the off side missed calls happened to both teams. But after watching the Brown hit several times, I believe that was a good non call.
Good run for the Yotes, see you next year |
