I think you wording was a bit confusing. As for shaking up the team, I don't think trading Carter would be considered shaking up the team. He's only been there, what, 3 months or so? I can see them wanting to keep him at least another, though. I don't see carter as a deadline deal trade for just a cup run. He's not explosive enough offensively yet in the post season. I think they traded for him for the long haul. There were other options out there for a short fix. The kings have a lot of talented forwards and with Quick in net, I think they are set for a while, with or without Carter. - funmaster18

wasn't Carter starting new in Columbus and he had his moments that he was playing well for them? But, Columbus still traded him away and shook up the team once again. - phi1671
Different situation and a different team. |

Not streaky in goals per say but in overall effectiveness. For a guy of his talent, he is invisible far too often. A $5.75 million cap hit until 2020 for Richards and a $5.27 cap hit for Carter until 2022 can be tough to swallow. Right now, as younger players, it's not bad but as the get older these contracts get worse and worse. I would only want a contract of that length if it were a superstar. - NickTheKid87
I disagree that as a Flyer he invisible far too often. Carter did much more then just score goals. Obviously the Kings had no issue swallowing those terms of their contracts. Says a lot about what they thought of the two players. |

That was the market though. Buffalo wanted him enough and that was the price it cost to get him. Otherwise he may have been back in Philly. Personally and didn't want him back. - NickTheKid87
I get the market. I'll say this because I truely believe it. Just bc that is what the market commands doesnt mean you have to pay it. Sometimes you have to figure out other ways to improve the team without overpay or possibly getting a player under market value.
Ex: Drafting/Trades/UFA not being overpaid |

Deals like Leino's leads directly into the discussion I was having the other day which is why your DONT pay players based on:
1 One Good Year
2 Market Value
Doesn't matter how important or irreplacable a guy is. You should only be paying for what they contribute, not what other people think they are worth. I think the Eagles have done a good job of thise over the years, except for Dawkins. - RooNosHockey
In most cases you have to sign a player to market value. Not much of a choice if you want the player. Teams and players in most cases want the same thing. A fair deal that both sides are happy with. |

They both got dealt by the Flyers as well. That also says a lot about the two players. |

Yeah I agree with that. But the market is what it is because of what teams are willing to pay. If Buffalo thinks Leino is too expensive than he signs for less elsewhere. Kopecky's deal really dictated that market too. |

Don't disagree. However, Kopeckys deal was a product of Florida signing players to ridiculous contracts to meet the cap floor. So that in itself is flawed. |

I've actually never been in the OD. Been to the Springfield once. My girlfriends family has a place on the bay inlets do we usually hang there. Can't take some of the "music" they play in some the bars down there... |

Was just talking about this kid the other day. Just thought I post this.
The Minnesota Wild have signed top prospect Mikael Granlund to a three-year contract worth $2.7 million. The deal includes annual $90,000 signing bonuses and a performance bonus structure that could raise his annual salary cap hit to $2.1 million. The ninth overall selection in the 2010 draft tallied 20 goals and 51 points in 45 games with HIFK Helsinki to lead the team in scoring as a 19-year-old this past season and captured the Finnish Elite League's Rookie of the Year honor in 2009-10 when he scored 40 points in 43 contests. He's expected to claim a roster spot with the Wild next season and if his potential comes to the forefront, he could be in the running for the Calder Trophy.

Yeah man. I have two classes tomorrow and then I'm finished for the week. Won't be on the boards until Tuesday unless I go on tomorrow in my marketing lecture so I'm trying to get my fill. |

Important issues
1. Clip on ties
2. Weber > Parise > Suter > other crap thats out there
3. A healthy Flyers team may be Cup ready
4. Don't panic
5. Don't buy Facebook
6. Who is da Man? |

Flyers got more than Richie & Carts were worth imo. I don't know what Columbus was thinking trading an top 10 pick and a solid young forward for a guy like Carter. They wanted a center to play with Rick Nash so they go out and get another sniper instead of a play maker? That was a dumb trade before Couturier emerged. |
