We are lucky to have Voracek and JVR, IMO. And Simmonds (although he is not well rounded) and Schenn and Coots.

I can't the the rewind button but how awesome was our team after Grossmann arrived and before Bryz got hurt?

That is why I favor keeping the team intact, and making a run for Parise. But don't want to get into that.

Leino is a very likable guy but overpaid.

Maybe Bill can answer this - how serious was the Flyer's interest in Doan a couple years back. I seem to remember his name bounced around. He would also look good next to Giroux in an ideal world.

Fun game to watch last night. Better series than the Devils and Rangers IMO.

I would definitely keep the team largely intact. The 2011-12 season was first year of the Claude Giroux Era. I would consider it a success given all the changes they made last year.

Doan has always pretty much been untouchable as the backbone/leader of the Coyotes. This past year was the only time his name ever significantly came up in trade rumors -- and that was because he's an impending UFA.

I'm sure the Flyers would have interest.

Doan is the type of player I have been talking about. Getting up their in age and production wont be worth the price imo. He does bring a lot to the table but I think he stays with Phoenix.

You would think he will be overpaid this summer.

He has a lot of valuable intangibles though. I wouldn't mind something along the lines of 3 years $15 million. He can probably get a longer deal though.

I think the Flyers need the mix of veterans and young players. Doan is a leader and a great captain. He lays it out on the line every single night but I dont know if the Flyers are willing to make that kind of commitment for a player like Doan when they have other area of needs.

I think they would have interest but nothing where a deal will happen.

They need more grit imo and Doan supplies that along with leadership and offense. Defense and Parise are of higher priority but I would strongly consider Doan if I was Homer.

I do too. He loves it there but I think he also knows that he stands a better chance at winning a Cup elsewhere.

I guess my definition of tenacious may be different.

I'm thinking of replacing "release the Kraken" to "release the Kopitar".

The kind of guy that would make Keyser Soze tinkle his pants.

The kind of guy that makes you wonder on the ice - where the F is Doan?

Leino isn't that for me.

Regardless, I am looking forward to future Flyer team and remain steady in thinking that we are not that far away.

Phoenix doesnt seem to have the talent as others do but they play within their system and play the game the right way. They have as good as a chance as anybody to get there next year imo. Will see what he decides to do.

3 yrs/ 5 M?

Unless there is a deal to trade JVR or a forward for a stud D man in place I would pass. Doan has reached 30 goals 2 times in his career only. Yes with G I would think he would have a good chance of it. I will say maybe. Why Doan wouldn't go for a longer deal would be strange to me. He is already 35 and the next contract for him will be a big decision.

Anyone know why he isn't already signed?

BTW: I would keep the team as intact as possible. An upgrade at D through UFA first and if that doesn't work then a trade and signing a UFA forward would be my next option.

Watching the handshake, Ray Whitney made Danny Briere look like Andre the Giant.

Or maybe I was just tired.

I don't think it will happen, but I would pay the money. Harts G and Doan sounds nice, just like Harts G Parise sounds nice. Better than Voracek up there, but that isn't the end of the world (despite all my obnoxious comments that are supposed to be funny).

I rather spend the extra million-million and a half for Parise before adding Doan.

Doan 5M

Parise 6-6.5M

Ideally I would like to add another defenseman and a gritty forward or too like Moen or Gaustad. My biggest dream is to acquire Shea Weber but that's a long shot. Parise would also be a beautiful addition. After that I would love to see the Flyers try to trade for Erik Johnson but I can't see Colorado moving him.

I am weary of adding any long term contract to this team right now. With all the youth we need to look at the long term cap implication of such a deal. So the money is a factor but so is the length IMHO.

I think Parise would be worth it. Young, skilled, gritty. Only knock is that he's been bitten by the injury bug a few times.

Important issues

1. Clip on ties

2. Weber > Parise > Suter > other crap thats out there

3. A healthy Flyers team may be Cup ready

4. Don't panic

5. Don't buy Facebook

6. Who is da Man?

Not into buying stocks from companies that dont actually produce anything.

Not necessarily. Last year was the only season he missed more then four or five games I think. Grant it was 70 games but I think he played in all the games this year.

That's also a concern but if you can't work a contract out you still have that chip to trade. I don't like handing out NTC like their candy.
