I for one do not want any parts of those two winning a cup before the Flyers do. What is worse is that they just may win it not even a year after they were both traded.
I don't have anything against Richards or Carter but as a Flyers fan the frustration continues to grow. I was 6 and 7 when the flyers last won and really didn't know what the frank was going on.
From losing to the Islanders, Oilers, getting smoked by Detroit, Lindros getting crushed by Stevens, Losing to Chicago that was a winnable series and NOW Richards gets traded to LA and Carter to Columbus and then gets traded to LA I can't take anymore.
I am not into conspiracies but if there ever was one this is it.
Oh well it's going to svck no matter who wins it all this year. - bird_dog
i understand the sentiment. It's your opinion and it's great that you expressed it. |

kings fan in phx blog:
Take away all the BS and the nonsense and that was the exact game I thought it would be.... excellent game from the Yotes. I believe the kings were outplayed and if richards didn't pot that rebound I would be killing him for making backhand passes through the middle like he was trying to keep a purse on his arm...
i chuckled - Don'tForgetTocchet

Yes it is a good sample size. But it doesn't mean that Carter can't produce better in the playoffs in the future. - MJL
What does the future have to do with right now? |

They took on 2 players signed to 11 and 12 year contracts. - MJL
So they're screwed if they don't win the Cup. |

and i can see that point of view
but i can also see the "ugh, just not the friggin year of the trades" point of view as well. and its not about hating richards or carter...
im not saying you should feel that way.. but to completely not understand why some fans do, is just odd to me - Crimsoninja
definitely understandable... i can understand not wanting to see them win in certain situations (if it were a kings hurricanes scf, i might be rooting for the canes)
it's the people that hate the kings more than anyone that baffle me. seriously? people would root for the rangers????? |

Facts say he's not a big producer in the playoffs. Hypotheticals say he may be some day. Obviously things can change, but the facts speak louder than possibilities, don't they? |

In saying that it would suck if LA wins the cup personally for me is more of a expression of speech.
As passionate as I am a hockey fan, my wife, and family and friends are all much more important.
I don't lose sleep over losses or playoff eliminations
or mope about the next day, life goes on.
The future is bright for the Flyers i agree but's it's still not a guarantee. - bird_dog
yep i don't lose sleep over all this stuff either...most of the time I just sit here and read the posts, laugh at a few because of the seriousness and the tone this place has become.
I've been rooting for this team a long time... |

i love the sport but when the Flyers check out, i check out...
I appreciate Bill still blogging about the Flyers because it keeps my interest.
I have no investment in who's playing...although I don't want the kings to win...better can they cancel the cup... |

Absolutely. Until Carter proves that he can produce better. He will be saddled with that label. |

i can see this because the pressure will be on them to make it back and finally win the cup. It's tough when you lose. Look at the Flyers and in two years they remade their whole team. Plus, now the Kings have two very long contracts in Richards and Carter. this year they played more as role players versus when they were with their previous teams. |

But what evidence is there to say that Carter is going to have a giant series? Statistics show that he has NEVER been a big game player. Even in Juniors and the AHL. Too think he will have a giant series instead of an average one is illogical. |

They are hot right now too. They barely squeaked into the playoffs. The stars have to align for a team in any sport to win a championship. The Flyers had no business winning the East in 2010. Michael Leighton and the team got hot at the right time. Being stuck with two huge contracts hurts. There is no guarantee that they can be traded another time. |

The only evidence available that Carter is going to produce better is that he has the raw natural talent and ability to do so. And he is a player that can get hot, as he has shown in the past. He could do it in the playoffs. Doesn't mean he will. But he has to prove that he can in the playoffs. |

Exactly. Everything is falling in place for the Kings this year. The chances of a run like this are slim. |

right and then you want to add pieces that are going to cost more since now you have inflated playoff revenue versus fan base revenue...something like that...
trades can happen... |

Why would they have to be traded another time? Based on the team they have, I don't see the Kings thinking about trading them. And the Kings knew what they were taking on. |
