Being upset about not seizing a really good opportunity is a valid emotion.

You are guaranteed nothing, in any sport, from year to year. Sure we can assume this season, no matter when it ends will be a stepping stone to future success, but it doesn't work that way most of the time.

A lot of things went right this season, the Rangers strong play helped matters, but so did matters that were out of their hands as well.

For example, the road to the cup was less daunting with nemesis Pittsburgh knocked out of the way.

Yes there was a lot of good and far more positive than negative this season. But if, and more or less likely this season ends at the hands of New Jersey, we won't reflect on anything but how it ended.

Nothing is for certain, have to grab the chance while you have it; thankfully they aren't dead yet but this doesn't look promising.

I don't want to even think about postmortem's yet, there's still a game to be played tomorrow night, if we go down, I think I'll need a good 72 hours to recoop & then try to put this season & playoffs in perspective.

Very nice article Jan; I enjoy your blogs very much. Very comprehensive and unbiased.

Just one completely irrelevant note: DEFCON severity increases as the numbers go down. DEFCON 1 is the most severe, 5 is basically peacetime, so your example doesn't quite fit. Again, totally irrelevant, just sayin'.

If anyone ever wonders Why the rangers fans chant "Marty" just look at the rangers third goal. What a buffoon, someone needs to tel him that just because hes one of the best goalies to play the game doesn't entitle him to do whatever he wants.

How many rangers players have a stanley cup ring? Marty has 3 to himself and half the records. Calling out a 40 year HOF goaltender is hilarious

None of us do but to ignore it is tomfoolery as well. It's a real prospect hanging over Rangers supporter's heads.

I think they will give it their all tomorrow but if they lose; going down swinging will not comfort many of us.

They are still alive and that is all that matters now, right...right?

Half of the rangers team were under the age of ten when Marty was winning his rings.

They call him out because they can't stand him and that has all to do with how great a player he was throughout his NHL career.

Us Rangers fans know Brodeur is a legend but he is also a weeny and that is why we get on his case.

Best players, on opposing rival teams, get treated the worst, standard operating procedure

I think so, until the body dies, there's hope. Torts needs to pull this team together like never before & preach the positives which I think he will. It is no time to panic.

The Rangers have a great opportunity here. Win consecutive games and go the Stanley Cup finals. It is true that there are no guarantees that future seasons will present opportunities as good, so let's hope they seize this one. Two consecutive wins for the Stanley Cup finals. Hopefully, new heroes will be born.

A lot of pumped up quotes from Tortorella, in regards to tomorrow's prospects. On twitter, there are several quotes from coach saying "we've finally found our game last night" "Lundqvist will play his best game of the season tomorrow night" "I have confidence in how this team will respond in Game 6" among several others.

He definitely seems confident and upbeat about this situation.

Three game seven wins is something my life expectantcy will suffer, down the line, but obviously all Rangers fans would accept health complications later on in life for a shot at another cup.

They are definitely going to give max effort tomorrow; that I have little doubt in knowing.

One day and one game at a time has to be preached here. They still have a chance and sometimes one last chance could be the best one taken.

I think last night removed the fear that I have about losing this series, and that has been replaced with a sense of hope and opportunity. If I am being honest with myself, I don't expect the Rangers to come back from 3-2 down two times in one playoff season, but from someone who enjoys the story of a post-season run almost as much as the result, the story would be awesome if the Rangers can win three 7 game series (with all kinds of drama in each) to reach the SCFs.

Agree, 1,000% but if they lose tomorrow, it doesn't mean the season was an utter failure. That's the point I was trying to make. Trust me, I was totally deflated last night after the game, felt as if I had played and lost.

If he doesn't come out of the net as much as he does I don't know if we beat Philly. Certainly not in 5 games. Its a big part of the system.

I am curious if Zucc gets in tomorrow. He said today he is ready to go if called upon. They could really use all the offense they can get.

To get to the finals would really be something; considering the treacherous road they took to get there.

I can't lie and say this run was thoroughly enjoyable for me though.

It will be romanticized more, with time passed, but right now this has been part fun and mostly stomach tightening.

I am all in, as most of us are. I never question that; just like I don't questioning this team's character.

It made up for a lot and that is certainly something none of us should forget.
