Wow!!!. A guy THAT valuable..your team should really contemplate holding on to him, huh???? Why is HE potentially leaving? Like I said, my friend..I mean no disrespect to you or your team, look, we stole him from the Islanders, and YOU stole him from us...On THIS PANTHERS TEAM, at THIS time, and THAT contract, he is NO MORE valuable to this franchise than Theodore. IF HE already played here, and with that contract, we'd have to move him too. The net soon belongs to Markstrom.

Why you feel the need to tell me that my "knowledge" is in question, well, I'll just let that slide. We all know "US FOLK" down here yonder..don't know squat, and we're lucky to have the team, and their leaving for Quebec in 37 minutes.

That would be great! I'd love for the Panthers to become my team in Quebec. One of my favourite teams -- but I doubt it will happen.

BTW, Theodore (who is decent generally) is not even in the same 'league' as Luongo. Forget contracts, age, past, temperament, stats or don't forget them: he is nowhere near the goalie Luongo is.

I'm not talking about the contract. I agree it doesn't make sense in terms of length because you have Markstrom. All I'm saying is if the Panthers need to win a game tomorrow they are better off with Luongo in net than Theodore. That's called an upgrade.

His contract isn't even bad from a cap hit perspective though.

And HE is potentially leaving because he asked to be traded. Why? We have an equally good goaltender who is 6 or 7 years younger. Lou doesn't like to ride the pine, he's a number 1 goalie, and he has pride in his game. He's not being traded because of his deficiencies. Hell it's not even certain that he's going yet. Likely, but not certain.

Your knowledge has nothing to do with "you folk" as you put it. I'd say the same thing to my next door neighbour if he made the same asinine statement that Theo is equal to Lou. It's nuts. Absolutely nuts.

Never did I say he was equal...My point is this YOU quoted HUGE upgrade...Look up "huge", I simply don't see it. Better, yes...HUGELY better..no. This guy shouldn't have to ask for a trade, nor should someone be shopping him if he was packed with all the greatness you bestow on him. Granted, your plusses for him are merited, but remember, his huge rebounds...his tendancy to give up tremendous "soft goals", his occasional "babyish" attitude, for every winning streak he goes on..a losing streak can easily follow. And, for all the talent that Vancouver gushes over that they display (a bit overrated in my opinion) he's never lifted the cup. He's getting older, the contract still to me makes no sense. He really belongs in Tampa, they could flip him for another roster spot (contract). They need goaltending, he wants to be in Florida (I think) and as far as I know, there is no equivelent to Markstrom waiting over there.

He is a huge upgrade. It's not even debatable. This is a waste of both of our time.

You know what Panther bud, the more I think about it, the more Luongo does make sense for FLA to get, even with Markstrom. He's 22 years old, he's not ready to take the mantle. Why not take the Schneider approach with him and have him play with Luongo until he's 26 or 27, by that time Lou's almost ready to retire and Markstrom has come into his own and is ready for the franchise. Worked out well for Vancouver using him with Schneids.
