I'm not talking about the contract. I agree it doesn't make sense in terms of length because you have Markstrom. All I'm saying is if the Panthers need to win a game tomorrow they are better off with Luongo in net than Theodore. That's called an upgrade.
His contract isn't even bad from a cap hit perspective though.
And HE is potentially leaving because he asked to be traded. Why? We have an equally good goaltender who is 6 or 7 years younger. Lou doesn't like to ride the pine, he's a number 1 goalie, and he has pride in his game. He's not being traded because of his deficiencies. Hell it's not even certain that he's going yet. Likely, but not certain.
Your knowledge has nothing to do with "you folk" as you put it. I'd say the same thing to my next door neighbour if he made the same asinine statement that Theo is equal to Lou. It's nuts. Absolutely nuts.

Never did I say he was equal...My point is this YOU quoted HUGE upgrade...Look up "huge", I simply don't see it. Better, yes...HUGELY better..no. This guy shouldn't have to ask for a trade, nor should someone be shopping him if he was packed with all the greatness you bestow on him. Granted, your plusses for him are merited, but remember, his huge rebounds...his tendancy to give up tremendous "soft goals", his occasional "babyish" attitude, for every winning streak he goes on..a losing streak can easily follow. And, for all the talent that Vancouver gushes over that they display (a bit overrated in my opinion) he's never lifted the cup. He's getting older, the contract still to me makes no sense. He really belongs in Tampa, they could flip him for another roster spot (contract). They need goaltending, he wants to be in Florida (I think) and as far as I know, there is no equivelent to Markstrom waiting over there.
