I dont see it happening. Whos available? I dont see him blowing up his roster to make that move. He just did that last season imo. - stveshdy
He didn't blow up his roster to get one guy last year. He blew up his roster to get better value guys and to get younger. It's not a matter of who is out there. If he wants someone, under contract or not, he will do whats necessary to get him. Everyone was up in arms about the Pronger deal when it happened. Looking back, not much was given up to get him. We have draft pics and some good young guys that can be used to acquire someone. |

On top of it.. the history also matters. Like I posted earlier.. Detroit Red Wings was the #1 team most players (328 polled) wanted to play on if they could. - jak521

They have to split up JvR and Briere because neither can play defense in their own end. - stveshdy

I'm wondering if Snider's comment that Holmgren has to fix the defense first, is another mandate from the Owner. Similar to last year with the goaltender. - MJL
That's my thinking. An all out assault is coming to get a D-man.

That was the first though I had... he made his point... same way he made his point last year.
Like I said earlier though... they would have to make some trades.. and I dont think it would be a good thing..
For once we have a decent balance from top to bottom, net out.
Offense: Great mix of young, vet, and middle ground talent. Could use a reliable 3rd/4th swing vet.
Defense: Lack a true #1A d-man, but have an abundance of guys who would be #2's around the league... if healthy our top 5 group is one of the better groups in the NHL.
Goalies: Shaky start for Bryz, but overall he had a pretty solid year, and Bob is a good enough backup.
Dont blow up the team for a big name d-man... fill in the pieces and make sure there is enough room for a TDL guy if needed. |

Its not Homer that worries me about making this kind of trade, its the opposing team that has to trade a stud defenseman (are they willing). |

Embarrassing. Don't understand why its so difficult. Briere I can understand because hes the size of fly but JvR has no excuse. |

I dont understand either of them. They are professional hockey players... There are plenty of guys both sizes that do an unbelievable job in both ends of the ice. |

All I'm stating is people have different preferences, I don't know why this is such a hard concept to grasp. as for Haddonfield I don't see a whole lot of Flyers living there, it's not like Philly is on the other side of an ocean. - JoeRussomanno

Jak - been trying to post but computer isn't working and I was banned.
What is the rumor on the Kenny C concert with Richards and Carter? Not sure I heard this one. From my sources, I did hear some stories abou showing up to practice hungover, etc.
Still wish the Flyers had Richards but I like Schenn and Simmonds.
Suter isn't coming here...so Detroit vs. Camden is not relevant.
For those that think playing hockey in Detroit is peaches and cream, I would watch some episodes of Hardcore Pawn |

yeah, just 2 miles further out. It's not like they have a five hour commute to the Joe from their posh suburbs. There isn't a big city in the U.S. that doesn't have parts that look like war zones. There isn't a big city that doesn't have its problems. But there are plenty of posh places to live within a reasonable commute to pretty much any NHL arena. Saying Detroit is the worst is ignoring the location of the Staples Center in L.A. or the Rock in Newark, or the United Center (the only place I've felt like I made a mistake taking public transit to the game because the walk from the el was scary...now the bus takes you right to the door, so that's okay). |
