Dregger doesn't usually report something until it's all but happened though.
- ehabs9

I was unaware of the Dreger report. Well, can't say I wanted or expected it, but let's see how he does.

I don't like this coach recycling thing though, although it is different management and he is more experienced, it still bugs me simply because of that.

Who ever they select, half the people will whine about it. So who cares?
The important thing is what they do with the line up.

I care if I'm going to have to whine about it or not

Crawford is far more experienced, not to mention he's coached in the last 3 years.

What a nightmare on what's been such a great summer so far

Now I'm worried about the draft....I was in my little bubble where everything was going to go right

I like what Bergevin's done so far, this one not so much but I'll trust him. Although Therrien or not, any coach would have a hell of a time making a competitive team of the current lot.

Agreed, I just fear it'll be a complete mess with Therrien.

Maybe we'll get McKinnon out of it

I was thinking the same thing.

Let's see if Michel learned a thing or two about dealing with NHLers.

I said it before and I'll say it again :

(frank) Michel Therrien

I hope he's "interim" like Cunneyworth was...

Let the 2013 draft discussion begin! The Habs sure shot themselves in the foot with this one. So they picked a real francophone in Michel Therrien, as opposed to a bilingual Ontario born coach in Marc Crawford. Fools! I knew the Crawford family growing up, and all I can say, is the whole family is hockey oriented. My first job, out of high school, was working with the father Floyd, a World Champion, with the Belleville MacFarlands. I can remember talking hockey with him, everyday at lunch, back in the 1970's. Played hockey against all of his sons, growing up. Probably the best hockey player of the family was the daughter. The Habs screwed the pooch with this pick as coach!

They both suck, but Therrien sucks less. I'm (frank)ing furious, Bergevin screwed up big time here by failing to ink Hartley who is in my opinion 100x the coach Therrien is.

Hell I would have kept Cunney if that's all they could come up with.

At least Crawford has a Cup! Yes, Hartley was their man, but Roy may have been a better choice, even yet!

Yeah on a team my grandma could have coached to a cup and she has no idea what Hockey is lol.

Just nuke the god damn province and start from 0.

Hartley won a champinoship in the Swiss league, Crawford is only a year removed from coaching with 15 years experience, and Michel Therrien has spent the last 3 years sitting on his hands and giving himself strangers.

Seems like the obvious choice to me

Hartley would have been a candidate even if there were no language requirements. Therrien wouldn't make the list and that speaks for itself.

Crawford won with a stack team. He has been a terrible coach since leaving the Avs.

Therien was better then Crawford. But still a bad choice.

Sounds like Therrien, without the Cup, when he had Crosby, Malkin and company!

Remember the Pens before Therrien? They finish last like 5 straight years. He took a young team and made it to the cup.

Crawford? He has miss the playoffs his last 5 season. With like 3 different teams. Impressive.

Definitely lost my faith in this organization right now. Preaching all this stuff about a new era, a fresh start, the beginning of something new. Then they go out and hire Therrien for a second go around. The same putz that couldn't crack it in Montreal before. Who couldn't keep his job with a young Penguins team that had Crosby, Malkin & Fleury. This decision alone has made me think of Bergevin as a fool. Good job Montreal. Keep up the great work

Next year is going to be a really good draft year. Think positive.

Maybe Therrien is there to teach the rookies and then be replaced when they have mature?

One can only hope. Simply, I'm not holding my breath. What is clear to me is that this coaching search was not about the best person for the job. Just another french puppet to appease the French fanbase and the French media. Congratulations to them putting language ahead of success.
