Exactly, so why mention it? That's the issue they're having with injuries. They don't have a cleanup hitter currently. - MJL
Pence can bat cleanup. He's got 13 homeruns and 35 rbi's. He's doing his job. |

Then they lack a hitter for the 3 spot. Ruiz who has been batting cleanup some this Season was given a typical day off on Sunday. It's obvious that this lineup is short some bats and hoping for a miracle recovery from Utley and Howard. There's a reason why they have scored 1 run or fewer 12 times this Season.

If the Flyers are going to retain Carle then I wouldn't be interested in Enstrom. I would like a player who is more rounded, with more size and a better defender. Especially if it's going to cost JVR or Schenn in a trade. - MJL

I personally dont see Utley and Howard making that much of a difference. The Phillies are going to depend on two players who are coming off of injuries and who havent played baseball in awhile. Just my opinion. They should be better than the current players but im not expecting a dramatic change in their offense. |

I agree with you, but we'll see. Utley won't have his legs under him, maybe not ever again, and will have a hard time driving the ball. He'll be a good player, but won't ever be Utley again as we knew him. And Howard had a severe injury that may take a full year to recover from.

Exactly. I think Ruben is going to sell off some of these players by the deadline. Its time for a change and a new look of players. |

Heres the guys to keep: Howard, Galvis, Ruiz, Pence, Lee, Hamels, Worley, Papelbon, Bastardo
The rest need to be moved.
Its time to bring up Dominic Brown also. Either he is ready or its time to move him. The Phillies always seem to wait forever to bring up players and just let them play. They have not done a good job of handling Brown. |

I think there's a really good chance that Hamels is gone. I think he wants to play on a team that is more up and coming and ready to win right away. This Phillies era is nearing the end. If you can't sign him, need to move him for something before he walks. If you can sign Hamels, I trade Cliff Lee |

For what its worth as someone who sees the Jets lots living in Winnipeg..
It WILL cost you a Schenn or JVR type of player to get Enstrom.
A lot of the time its not how good a player truly is, its what his worth is to the team. Without Enstrom the Jets are a much weaker club, and it remains to be seen how good of a chance they have a attracting free agents.
They just dealt Oduya away.
If you are talking about the Jets a player that could be had, in a package or a one-player deal is Evander Kane. There have been numerous reports he does not like the city and wants out.

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Silly Season Musings: Enstrom - bmeltzer
My concern with Enstrom is that he's another smaller guy, who could easily wear down over the season and be less effective in the post season.
Now, if Kimmo Timonen does start the season on LTIR, and is out for awhile... |

Assuming Carle resigns, I agree with others I expect the Flyers to take a run at a d-man with a little more of a physical edge. I just wish Homer could have a "do over" and not trade a 1st round for Eminger and instead draft Carlson. I just think the Flyers are looking for that type of d-man |

At the end of the season, I thought they would add minor pieces through free agency to supplement the roster. With Snider's comments about how he feels Homer has to focus on defense, I don't think it will be addressed through UFA. Suter is too much like Carle and Garrison has questions about be able to handle heavy minutes long-term.
I believe a pretty significant move is coming, there are certainly many pieces on the active roster that could be packaged to bring back a stud d-man.

I think it will be a very interesting draft for player movement. There seem to be a decent number of teams who could want to make pretty significant changes. Teams like SJ, Calgary, Minnesota, TB, Det, Col, and Vancouver off the top of my head. |

First ......I like your idea bill. If they were going the trade route I would like to see them try to get Erik johnson - griouxmvp2012
I'd like to see a healthy Erik Johnson play for the Flyers. That's a pretty good idea. I said this before and I'll keep saying this, I don't see how the Flyers can walk away from Jagr without a back up plan. We want to upgrade the D, correct? That might mean taking from the offense as it is, to upgrade the D. If the Flyers are serious about going after Weber right now (if possible), I think it's a lock they have to give up a player like JvR, Voracek, Read etc. This is with Jagr already possibly not being wanted here. This hole just gets bigger up front to fill a hole on the back end. I think it's very possibly Jagr comes back because the market this summer is weak when it comes to snipers. |

Why isn't anyone talking about Cody Fransen out of TOR? 6'5'' R handed D man with some offense. |

Because our 3-6 is pretty well set. We need to focus on a top pairing type guy. |

talk to people around the Jets -- beat writers, bloggers, whomever. They'll all tell you that Enstrom is the best, most-rounded defenseman on that team.
which also means, IMO, that he's probably close to untouchable. |
