Read's a nice role player for this team and his cap hit is a steal. Have to have some of those players on your roster. Read also can play multiple positions and is good at both ends of the ice.

Not an option. They won't know if there is a bonus cushion until September at the earliest. That decision on a backup will have to be made long before then.

i'm sure the team is more in the know than i am and has a much better idea as to whether or not the bonus cushion will be there. if it's a 75% or better chance for the bonus cushion, i keep bob. otherwise, trade him and see what biron will take. is that a better response?

In terms of the backup goalie position, I think the Flyers are going to do what they feel is best for the team. And I don't think whether or not there is going to be a bonus cushion is going to be a factor in that decision.

It might be too early to tell if Bobrovsky can be an effective NHL backup, but the thing is, the Flyers have made a massive commitment to a guy to be their starter, and he plays better when he gets a load of work. That limits Bob's ability to see consistent time and truly develop.

Personally, I don't mind if he comes back as the back-up, but I'd rather see a veteran like Biron brought in, cheaply. He can provide solid play, will bring a good attitude and will be adequate if there's an injury.

Put his name quietly on the market, see if you get an offer you like. They can always say no.
