Kopitar is a superstar. His talent is off the charts. He can do it all.

Kopitar, Doughty, and Quick is a scary nucleus.

Edit: And they are all 24, or younger...

Have to add Carter and Richards bc of their contracts. Brown isnt a bad player either.

Well yeah, when you have all-star level players supporting all world talent it's a fantastic mix.

I find it silly, much like it sounds you do too, to say that LA's strategy is the way to win a championship. Every year, every team sees which won and thinks, should we have that identity or use that strategy? Luck is involved in a big way and also the timing of events. LA is healthy, Voynov and Doughty have come up huge without Johnson, some good bounces, etc... I don't mean to take away from the hard work and dedication the LA players have shown on the ice. THEY DESERVE TO WIN. I think it is also important to also take a step back and say, it worked this year and because a lot of things fell into place for them. The Flyers have an identity and a strategy. If you disagree with it, cool. I don't. I like the balls to the wall all out. As a fan I feel very fortunate.

I agree, I like Lavy's system. I think with another year under their belts, the young guys will also know when to charge up the ice and when to play it a little more safe. It is fun to watch when they are on their game.

Need more production next year from Schenn and Couturier. Both should get more minutes and take on bigger roles on this team.

I was alarmed by the inability to make adjustments. I do not know if it's a coaching issue, a personnel issue or what, but it was a problem. There was zero adjustments made in the season series with the Rangers, as well as being eaten alive by the Devils forecheck for four straight games.

With Couterier on the second or (most likely) third line he will put up some good point totals. I expect Schenn to hit at least 20 goals next year. I also love the way he threw the body at different points. He showed signs of being great but was not noticeable in some games. He is young and should pull it together this year.

I expect both of them to have very good building years, but wouldnt be surprised if Schenn was the more dominant offensive player this year.. I am not saying I think he will, but that I wouldnt count it out.

Agreed 100%. LA is set up for some time to be really good.

I think it is really hard to judge a team based on a playoff run like this. They have had very good health while teams they played have not( no Daniel Sedin, no Pieterangelo). They also had favorable match ups : Vancouver with no Daniel Sedin after a long cup run, a new to the playoffs St Louis team, and offenseless Phoenix. I know they were the higher seeds but I would take Detroit and Chicago over any of them. Also many of their stars have been dogged by poor work ethic claims (Carter, Richards, Doughty, Penner). How driven will they be after the cup win? Lastly, Jon Quick has been otherworldly this year, but was also terrible the previous two years in the playoffs. Lombardi is also terrible at picking talent in the first round, which in todays NHL will sink your team. I thinks it's one and done with this group but just my opinion.

Good health is certainly a key in their run yes. The question is, is staying healthy luck? IMO it's not.

It was like watching a replay over and over. Nothing the Flyers could do because the Devils just controlled the play.

I think a lot of it has to do with luck. If a guy takes a puck off the foot and it breaks, not bad luck. If a guy gets hit in the eye with the follow through on a shot not bad luck? What about if someone gets boarded or slashed and misses games. What about concussions?

I think 75% is lucky... or unlucky

Well then you must believe the Flyers are consistently the most unlucky team in the NHL correct? Because it's year in and year out with the injury epidemic.

You have to lose the tunnel vision you have. The Leafs are much worse with the luck by a country mile.

Yeah, one has played for the last 10 years and the other 2. That's like saying Jagr has more goals than Giroux over the course of his career.... duh his career is longer.

I'm saying Bob has been impressive, grown, and shown more mental toughness in his first 2 years than Bryz. I think he has more athletic ability and when 8 years have passed I think Bob's goaltending in his 30's will be better than Bryz's has been. As long as he doesn't get screwed by being mishandled.

And about those stats (to play Devil's advocate) He won the cup as a backup, losing his starting job he won back to Giggy. His team he did so well with just went further than he's ever taken them in the playoffs. Bob became a rookie starter and has had long periods of playing awesome as well as being as up and down as Bryzgalov.

No mistake, right now Bryz is the better goalie. But I feel Bob will continue to get better. Either with the Flyers or wherever he ends up.

Bob is not mentally tough. remember hes comments after last years playoff performance.

I think there are a ton of factors, but luck is probably the most common. I think the playing style, opponents faced, and conditioning also matter as well, but look at the Flyers this year.

Pronger gets a stick to his eye, which will likely end his career. G catches a knee from Simmonds which knocked him out a few games. JvR breaks his foot blocking a shot. Schenn gets a concussion hitting his head on the boards. Those to me are all pretty unlucky cases, and I'd be willing to bet it goes that way most of the time.

That is some really bad luck. No doubt about it. Not sure what goes into changing the training staff, strength coach, employing a team nutritionist, but I would look into it just to change things around.

But thats like suggesting change for the sake of change. All accounts are that Jimmy McCrossin is one of the best, and the team and org really like him. Why change that? Because he couldnt prevent a concussion or broken foot? Not being sarcastic either.. I just dont think it would do anything.

For the same reason 95% of people don't get to keep their jobs forever. Change is never a bad thing when status quo has been adhered to for a length of time.

so you think the Flyers lack of a championship should cost the athletic trainer his job? I think the crazy amount of praise he gets league wide should be indicative that he is doing a damn good job.
