If pittsburgh traded for an overpaid backup to keep him out of Philly, I find them doing that pretty stupid imo. Really? They are worried about Vokoun in Philly? - JoeRussomanno
Pittsburgh needed a better back-up for Flower, and Flyers need someone they can rely on if Bryz falters again. It was smart for Pitt to quickly trade for him and sign him, as it hurt the Flyers and other teams that need someone like Vokoun. Though the Flyers needs are not as high as some others. |

i think they're more worried about flower. - flyerscup2011
Yea, I mean they needed to get a backup and if Flower wilts again then they have a decent backup. I just don't see how a team should be worried about another's backup goalie. |

Rather let Jagr walk. Use that money elsewhere. - stveshdy
If they can move JVR for a defenseman than it wouldn't be a terrible idea to bring Jagr back for a year. Put him on either the 1st or 2nd line. If they don't want to move JVR than I would let Jagr walk. |

i'd pass, but apparently the team lobbied for him to be re-signed - flyerscup2011
I understand why his teammates would want him back. Flyers need to look at this differently. They need to upgrade defense. Not spend over $3M on a 41 year old when they have younger players ready to take on more minutes. |

It's not tampering if Washington gave them permission. I wouldnt have minded Vokoun as a back-up to Bryz. And if the Flyers are going to be trading some forwards, I wouldnt mind Radulov if he was cheap. - RooNosHockey
that's true, but i heard nothing to that effect. i don't want a $2MM back up. why would you want radulov? we already had zherdev and we all know how that worked out. |

JvR for Enstrom, hmm... I'm not sure I'm too excited about that. Or Schenn either.
But I think that's what it would take. |

I would like the Flyers to sign a veteran guy like Vokoun to back up Bryz. Scott Clemmensen, Johan Hedberg, Martin Biron and Josh Harding are all UFAs. I'd take one of them. |

the only number that worries me about jagr is the number of games he misses due to injury. and i totally agree about letting the kids play. they're ready to play at the pro level, let them develop at it |

D2 was the best Mighty Ducks movie. I still can't believe Goldberg let up that soft goal against Trinidad and Tobago. |

IT's been illustrated ad nauseaum that Bryzgalov was one of the Better goalies in the NHL through the second half of the season. Also Bryzgalov was far from the reason why the Flyers are not in the playoffs now. Do they want a backup? Sure you need a backup goalie that can play so as to give the starter much needed time off. However the whole idea of jettisoning Bobrovsky is his high cap hit. If you're gonna do all that, why bring in a guy like Vokoun? Furthermore Vokoun never made it here last year when he became available so there is little to no evidence that says they the Flyers are interested or Vokoun himself wants to play here either.
All I'm saying is, if the Pens are making decisions on who their back up goalie is based on what their opposition is doing then that sounds bush league to me. |

i'd do jvr for enstrom +. i don't know if they'd give up enstrom + for schenn. if i'm the flyers i'm looking for stay at home shut down type defenders. we have carle, timonen and gustaffson who are all very comparable to enstrom |

really? an aging veteran making more money than the current backup and on a NTC +35 contract that is already showing signs of breaking down? How is that good for the Flyers or even the best option?

Have to give something up to get something in return. Enstrom is an All-Star caliber defenseman. |

If we had Leighton as the annointed starter i would expect nothing less from Giroux. He's supposed to support his teammates. |

I have a feeling we are going to have another "shocking" summer. I think as many as 3 of our young forwards, and 2 of our current defense will be traded to bring in top talent players.... I'm not sure why I feel this way... A top D-man, and a top winger... and you may even see Parise sign here... Who knows... |

eh a little less maybe and only for one year then okay. But if 900k is the veteran minimum fine but I don't think that is. However I don't want Vokoun on that deal either especially if Bobrovsky's cap hit is a perceived problem. |

i'd like to see some of those things happen. i'd be thrilled with parise. they have options and cap space for once which is nice. |
