I'll say this though, if they do sign Jagr, watch the team only win 9 or so games all year..... - hockeylover
if that happens, they can get the #2 pick in the 2013 draft. |

it truly is hilarious, people are against signing Suter, a top pairing d-man in his prime, but are on board signing an injury prone old man.
I think Holmgren should sign Clarke, Barber, and Howe while he's at it.
In fact, Paul Holmgren GM/4th line winger. GID Homer! - PLindbergh31

Do you think the Kings defensive group has more talent than the Flyers?

I don't think either team would do it. If the Leafs are trading #5 and Luke Schenn, they're going to fill their biggest need, which is a top-flight center.
Bob is meaningless to them with Reimer and Scrivens in the organization.
For the Flyers, I don't think this draft has enough impact players to trade JVR for a pick that isn't #1 overall. And Luke Schenn? Meh. - bradleyc4
double the meh re: Luke Schenn. He's nothing we don't already have, and he's been even more inconsistent than any of our top guys. Don't see him as an improvement over any of Coburn, Meszaros, Grossman, or Kimmo. Yes, he's a little better than Bourdon or Gus, and much better than Lilly, but I'm not trading away JVR for someone who is not a clear and big step up from our current roster. |

The idea of no one having a gun because the law doesn't allow it is the scariest thing going.
Laws don't stop the criminals from carrying a gun.
The lack of understanding the power of a gun and the poper handling is what is at issue here.
A gun isn't a toy and should never be handled as such. - ggunky
Half of all people have IQs under 100. Having them drive CARS is scary. Having them carry guns is scarier. |

If someone had a gun to my head and said I had to trade JvR for Schenn.. id say pull the trigger.
No BS. I would. 10 days a weak. |

I think Drew Doughty alone gives them the advantage at the blueline. He's playing the role of #1 defenseman beautifully for them, and we just don't have that kind of player right now. |

I hear he's got huge offensive upside, but I've never seen him play. I suppose my answer would be, "I can't say." Some call him a 'stud blueliner', but is that really an appropriate term for a prospect, especially one who's never played a single NHL game? Seems presumptuous to me. - BulliesPhan87
And the Flyers are so patient with developing defensemen. That's why they've drafted and devloped so....oh. Wait. Um. Nevermind. |

I was pondering the same question. Great minds .....
kopitar v giroux (I'll take G)
brown v jagr (easy one here at this stage)
doughty v timmo (doughty)
quick v bryz (Quick)
I think they win where it counts but we win on depth. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Progress in Jagr Negotiations - bmeltzer
Personally, I'd love to have Jagr back at the same amount. I know his body broke down, but I think he can still contribute. If the cap goes up, I think it's a no brainer. Also, sounds really like Prongs is done which is no surprise, and that Homer's just saying what is necessary to LTIR him. |

Oh no, I wasn't being specifically critical of any post. I am so in and out of here right now with work being wacky. Just was giving a general state of the union thingie. |

I like their total make up on defense. A couple of right handed shots.. a good mix of defensive d-men and two way d-men. Size and speed.
Its a hell of a group. |

we all saw what the team can do when they are healthy...that's the big "IF"...
the kings are healthy, the Blackhawks were healthy...
it just seems like the Flyers cannot catch a break. That's what i would look into...although i doubt anything will come up other then "bad breaks"

That's another concern I had, though not my initial reaction to the suggestion of acquiring Shultz. It might not historically be their strong suit, but I wouldn't ignore the chance to get him and begin reversing that reputation. |
