So, looking back, do you guys still think we got fleeced on the Penner deal? - StayTunedMTC
It's honestly a trade that looks like it's going to work out well for both sides. Depends on how good Klefbom ends up being.
Even if he doesnt, Penner is helping the Kings win a cup right now. He's been instrumental in key moments of a lot of games. He's been huge for them.

The real question is..
"which team has had better goaltending over the years, San Jose or Philly?"

I think Columbus can choose between this years or next years - howamidointhis
Strange. Mynhldraft.com says that it's a conditional pick (2012 or 2013) if Los Angeles DOESN'T make the playoffs but NHL.com doesn't make that distinction. |

Why is it obvious the Leafs won't take a defensemen? Whoever we take won't be on the current roster anyway and you can always make a trade after the fact. I personally believe they will select the best player at number 5 as opposed to the best forward. Atleast that is what I am hoping for. - P-Nut
Exactly. You don't normally draft for current positional need. Unless you already have 3 young forwards! Plus, articles like this are so annoying. Its not like this guy has any clue about these kids. Just got through this garbage with the baseball draft. People think their team should pick so and so, and then get mad when they don't meanwhile outside of the scouts and Pierre Mcguire, NO ONE watches enough of these kids to make any kind of guess, assessment or anything about them. Whatvever. I guess its all in fun.
Though I find it amusing that last week this guy was like "The Oilers 100 percent take Yakapuv" now its "no one realizes how close the internal discussion is"
bottom line: if the Oilers select another forward they shoud fire their general manager. |

Also I predict the Leafs try to package their pick for an established centre if they can't move up to get Galchenyuk or Grigorenko is not available (who I think goes 3rd)
Its not secret that the Pens will listen to offers for J Staal and can be had for the right price. I would say try for Getzlaf but I think the price would be to much for BB
Not saying they get Staal but I see BB making an attempt and if it fails they trade down. - Trejetta
THe problem with aquiring Getzlaf is that, as a person, he is a spoiled loser. The Leafs might aquire Jordan Staal, but I realy believe they will just pick 1 /2 , get Luongo for komiserick and call it a day. |

He's actually a decent player for big guy. I wouldn't call him a liability and with the right coach he'll 6-8 mins a night. There were times when he was also put on the 3rd line for the ducks. Still wish the oil had neil |

Why? take the best player availible. Then the oilers have assests to move for a dman. |

He is in no way a liablity. He is the perfect 4th liner and very inexpensive. Quality team mate. He'd fit right in as a mentor for such a young team. |

I honestly see the Oil making two trades that will effect their draft:
Edm: Dubinsky
NYR: Hemsky, Teubert
Edm: 8th pick
Carolina: Gagner, Rieder, Peckham
Edmonton drafts:
Yakapov with the 1st
Rielly or Reinhart with the 8th - mbell
Dont want to include Rieder. He could be a true steal. |

Penner has had a good playoffs. After the Cup win, it will be slightly tilted LAs way.
Long term, who knows but if Klefbom turns out half as good as he looks and Teubert eventually becomes an NHL regular, trade edge goes to Oilers. |

Let him play longer and develop more. he continues along his apparent path and either A)we get yet another talented young forward or B) his value trade wise becomes greater.
Patience. |

By no means against keeping him. Letting him develop is fine. But if the right deal comes along, I move him in a heartbeat. |

Agreed, but only for the right deal. At 114th overall he could be a huge steal.
I keep going on about him but after watching a few Rangers games this year I was massively impressed. and he's German. |

I'd rather include someone else besides rieder. I like what I read about him. I wish more chl games were televised.
With that 8th pick I'd swing a deal to trade up again to grab galchenyuk.
In all honesty I would not be upset if galchenyuks name is called first by the oilers.

Oilers fans would not like what we would have to give up to pick 8th. They would like even less what it would take to get high enough to get Galchenyuk. As Ive said numerous times, the asking price to grab our 1st overall will be an overpayment. The same goes for any pick in the top 3 or even 5. |
