We should be so lucky. But out of all our current CHL prospects he intrigues me the most. Him and Gernat. |

Oilers fans would not like what we would have to give up to pick 8th. They would like even less what it would take to get high enough to get Galchenyuk. As Ive said numerous times, the asking price to grab our 1st overall will be an overpayment. The same goes for any pick in the top 3 or even 5. - TheTaoOfSemenko
Oh I agree. And the chance of it happening is slim. The oilers won't trade players they feel are special so if they don't make a move to jump up in the draft Id still feel comfortable as they have confidence in our prospects. Wasn't the price to pick 4th in 2010 Jordan eberle? Was that an overpayment at the time? 4th picks usually turn out better than late firsts. I trust they know who to trade and who not to. I wish it was draft day already. I keep busy by coming up with unlikely scenarios |

If the Slovakian towers add weight I don't see why theycant produce offense for us in a few years. I hope they put both gernat and rieder back in jr. |

Rieder had a fantastic year - his value is likely at a high point. Trading him now makes sense, as we need to fill other holes - the point of this rebuild is to acquire assets and turn those assets into what we don't have.....that time is now.
Rieder is interesting - but he will have to play in the top 6. Can anyone see him playing ahead of Eberle and Yakapov???
Other point is we need to obtain top pairing offensive D - and you can't acquire these players once they develop - what would be the price for OEM now???
Move the assets and get the pick - Morgan Rielly is the player I'd select. He reminds me of OEM - and a little of Paul Coffey...just saying |

Marincin better not (frank) around again this summer. He needs to put in some serious time in the gym after messing around last year |

Good choices overall! no major disagreements, but a few different ideas...
Aberg ahead of (in place of) Collberg, Laughton near 20~, and Pouliot ahead of him (around 12~).
I won't be surprised if a few trades occur during the draft, but also think we'll see a couple soon after the Cup Final!! |

I wonder if he'll try to annex all the dressing room changing stalls. Those Germans are shifty people. |

Klefboms' the guy im excited about...
Gernat is a long way away i think.
Although Hes got size, can skate and has offensive ability with tons of upside, he looks so rough around the edges. Really raw.
Bad decisions, lots of mistakes and mediocre in his own end.
Of course its all just guess work, and Maybe his learning curve isnt too long and he'll figure it out sooner rather than later.
But if i had to guess, id say we wont be seeing him in our top 6 for at least 2 full seasons. |

If he continues to improve and there's nothing that suggests he won't, then his value will become greater. And that'd two spots. A lot easier to interchange wings than it is to move to center. Nothing is set in stone with this kid but overreating could wind up with egg on the face. Patience is needed in a rebuild as well. Calgary once released Martin St.Louis . Much evil can come from hasty and reactionary moves. |

Petry looked truly horrid at the beginning of the season. You never know when they'll just start figuring it out. Dmen and goalies typically follow a different learning curve.
But I do agree, Gernat has a ways yet but the raw ability is there. I didn't pencil these guys into the lineup, I just said they intrigue me. |

Thats exactly what I was thinking. One more year in junior and a year in the ahl then he might be ready |

For sure. Just sayin while i thought he showed some obvious flair, he looked far less polished than pysyk and even the younger reinhart.
I think he could be an absolute gem, or a total bust |

Dont really know enough about him to make an educated guess. Was hurt for so long and didnt really seem to play a prominent role on the oil kings in the mem cup. Hes obviously a hard working, physical, grinder type. And does that well. Hes 6'2, so hes got some size too. Grinders that can skate abit are never bad to have in your system.
I liked pelss more than him actually. Or maybe just noticed him more.
At the end of the day Henrik samuelsson was the only oil king forward that really looked dangerous and stood out every game imo. |
