On the TV report, he was pushing that angle...the tweets are not a 180 away from what he said on TV, but he definitely downplayed the whole angle of JvR's intentions on twitter. - Jsaquella
I figured that, which would explain the clarification aspect of the tweets. The implication is still there, at any rate.
Funny how Eskin didn't give a rat's ass about the Flyers until about the time Pronger got hurt, and now he's the one breaking stories.
Well Eskin reporting the Flyers want Nash isn't going to help JVR to decide to get the surgery any earlier.
Seriously tho, why hasn't he gotten the surgery yet? - hereticpride
There could be a 100 different reasons. I personally have a torn labrum and I play fine 2 nights a week and run 3 miles every night symptom free. I'll wait to see how the whole picture and we get a report from Homer before saying he's "holding the team hostage".

Exactly.
(I wasn't implying that Eskin was breaking a story this time in my last post; meant that he's done it in the past with injuries. My own clarification, I guess.)

Still calling bs on the Nash rumors tho. 7 million on one forward is just about the last thing we need right now. If I'm moving JVR it's for a proven NHL defenseman or a top 10 pick.

Personally if I'm TB, I'm not giving up a 2nd round pick for Bobrovksy, nor would I be looking at him as a possible starter. I'd be looking for a far more experienced and established player. - MJL
They already have their own young goalie to develop in Dustin Tokarski.

NBC's Howard Eskin strongly hinted that JvR has held off getting hip surgery to avoid being traded to Sea Isle, er, Columbus and that Holmgren is "upset" - Jsaquella

Could have been told that R&R was a better route to go by his docs. I doubt he'd willingly (frank) around with his career by delaying a needed surgery.
I don't doubt the report on the face of it-the Flyers feel he needs surgery, and other teams are hesitant to deal for a guy who isn't having a procedure the team announced he needed and Holmgren's probably upset about it.
I do doubt that JvR's holding off to stay put. Why would you want to stay where they obviously seem willing to trade you at the drop of a hat?

I don't doubt that they 'like' Nash, as Eskin said, but a 7.8 cap hit til 2018 (NMC through 2015, NTC for the remainder) is a bit much.

But if they don't fix their defense, it won't matter. - bradleyc4
Their defense was terrible last year. They had some injuries on their blueline all season though. Stevie Y does a nice job and I think he will make upgrades where ever they need it.

When hes traded does the NMC and NTC stay? I though when the Flyers traded Richards and Carter those clauses were removed? I could be wrong. Trading JvR for Nash is a serious move but like you stated their taking on $3+M to make that deal. The Flyers would have to move other players, just dont see it happening imo.

I'm fairly certain that once you waive your NTC/NMC, it's gone until reworked into a new contract.

Yes it is gone. But sometimes as part of the agreement for a player to waive his clause, he asks that the team acquiring him honor the clause as part of his agreement to waive it to be moved.
Also think the get Harding in UFA to be their starter next year. - stveshdy
Yzerman will probably use the surplus of picks he has acquired to swing a deal for Bernier.
It's clear, Bernier doesn't have a future in LA, Kings would be much more suited having a veteran backup play 12-15 games a year, instead of having an asset waste away on the bench.

Thats another move that T.B. could make.

Keep an eye on the Sharks. The Flyers could also get involved if the Flyers were to decide to move Voracek at the draft to move up...a distinct possibility.
This is from Eks main page today. I'm hoping the Flyers don't deal Voracek but it could become a possibility (contract is going to be an issue imo).
