To be honest though I wouldn't mind Maatta at all. I do have a feeling our pick will be dealt tho.

For my money, I have a feeling that if Burke isn't able to get up and get Galchenyuk, than they'll look at trading down. I know they're really high on Cody Ceci (Leaf fans everywhere sigh).
Obviously A or B would be the better choices, but I wouldn't be opposed to C if Buffalo was maybe willing to throw in a 3rd or something.

That way you can target a forward and Dman-- think about Faksa/Girgenson/Wilson/Gaunce + a Dman like Ceci/Koekkoek/Finn/etc.

That's my belief, yes.

Is that a good sigh or a bad one?

Leaf fans will be pissed if Burke takes a Dman. Ceci is the bee's knees though.

I think Maata has a slight chance of being picked before Reinhardt, at this point.

Caps need to draft a big center with one of them and a mean d-man with the other.

how about a trade (just for fun)

sens offer -

15th pick and mika zibanejad

to caps for -

11th pick and alzner

that gives you your big 2-way center, and you still have 2 1st rd picks to grab a couple of d-men

What? How do we get a lower pick when we get a prospect, albeit a good one, for Alzner?

You are vastly underrating Alzner's value.

It'd be more like 11th, orlov for 15th, ziba.

alzner is "shutdown" guy, with a limited ceiling. zibby seems to have a pretty high ceiling (getting the j. staal comparisons). i would have no problem adding a little to the offer, but probably not too much.

it's basically the 15th and 6th overall for alzner and the 11th overall. I could see ottawa throwing in another lower pick, or perhaps a prospect (puempel maybe)

Again, you are vastly underrating Alzner. He was our best defenseman all year, on a blue line where everyone else was inconsistent.

And if you want to talk like that, it's basically the 15th and 6th overall for the 11th and..5th overall!

wow, didn't realize alzner was drafted that high. not trying to undervalue him, i just dont' watch a lot of caps games, so more going off of his numbers.

switch carlson for alzner?

Go back and read Alzner's Scouting record and then read Ryan Murray's scouting record... boy are they eerily familiar.

Also. Carlson is going to be/almost already is a stud. If Washington is dumb enough to deal him...

i didnt' realize alzner was that highly regarded. he sort of flies under the radar in washington.

as for carlson, i was just throwing that out there for fun, obviously knowing it's not feasible (should have put a ). the kid is definitely a stud, i still have nightmares about his goal at the WJHC 3 years ago.

I can't see either being dealt to be honest. There really isn't a reason at this point, especially with two 1st rounders as trade bait.

If Grigs is still their at 5 why not take him!!!!! 6-3 200Ibs and a possible #1C i dont want to regret not picking him if he becomes a star for a player like Gaunce or Faksa. Although i dont mind Faksa that much.

i wasnt' debating seriously. i know the chances of the caps dealing carlson or alzner are about the same as ottawa dealing karlsson or cowen. was just throwing out deals for fun (i'm bored at work)

Or he could be the next Filatov.

As far as skill, he's 3 on my list, but I have major concerns.
