Implied vs. directly stated are two different things.
Yes it seems that he would be open to remaining a devil, but from what I have sen he has not stated "it is my intention to remain with the devils next season and not test the waters on July 1st" - mfreedman
I never said Parise said that. But from his comments, it's crystal clear that Zach loves it here and if given the right deal from the Devils he'd gladly sign it and stay here because this is his #1 choice.
The exact opposite of that has been reported by Ek and a couple others. That's my point. |

If you had Jonathan Quick, and Martin Brodeur (for instance), who would you keep? I'd be fine keeping both if a good deal doesn't come back. Don't want Komisarek or Connolly.
I have a feeling the flyers will target Weber, if Suter stays in Nashville. Schenn, JVR, 1st for Weber? - lkeh73
what a shocker.
also that's a horrendous comparison. Brodeur is 40 and Quick is coming off a Conn Smythe. Schneider is a relative unknown while Luongo has a good 5 years left. |

Explain how Schneider is unproven. In his first two seasons his record is 36-12-3, with a save % .933. Draw whatever comparison you want, if you think he's unproven than you haven't watched him play. He's beaten the best teams too. When Luongo fell flat, Schneider won 13 out of 15 games. That's not unproven, that's an elite goalie playing less games than he should be. - lkeh73
An 82 game season is different than playing 51 games as a backup over the course of 2 seasons.
Steve Mason had similar numbers in his rookie year as a starter. WOuld you have called him proven after the one season?
Once he plays two full seasons as the starter and has numbers similar to what hhe has currently posted, then you can begin calling him proven. |

The NHL in Jersey just isn't working out...It feels boring and blah...The team needs to move somewhere where it's vibrant and exciting... |

Not to sound like that typical leaf fan but if they land everyone they are into according to three rumor chart hudler, nash, penner, lu, parise we can definitely make a deep run but Burke needs to have a magician with the cap and catch everyone sleeping with their pants around their ankles .... after almost 50 years all we have is our dreams now |

Agree with the bolded.
The underlined is the important part. Who says he will be given the deal he feels is right for him in NJ?
With $ tied up in Kovalchuk, the new emerging Henriqu playing top line minutes, an aging goaltender, your most recent top pick playing 1st line minutes on D, its going to be tough to get Parise for the value they want.
Who is to say that some team doesnt offer more, and Parise opts to take the $ because it is also high on his list?

Quick is great, but Schneider's development greatly mirrors his.

Did you watch any of the Devils home games during this playoff run? Hear any of Pierre's comments about how the Jersey crowd was the best he's ever seen it, and arguably the best in the playoffs? |

Im not convinced of that. I honestly think getting Lu might help them out the first year.. then the pressure will hit him like a brick. |

Hi Eklund. I heard the Leafs are prepared to give up Gardiner, Schenn + 1st for Luongo, however the deal is being hung up because Brian Burke's wife is leaving him.
I also heard another rumour regarding Luongo. Apparently the owner of the Canucks, Aquilini, and his wife are splitting, rumour is Luongo is the reason the two of them are splitting. |

Notice that he didnt say 'I want to remain a Devil'. He did say that he has enjoyed his time here so far (although in different words). Who is to say that he won't test the waters? If he wanted to stay 100% why didnt he say those exact words?
I assume you will say because his agent is negotiating with the team, so he can;t state that directly. If that is the case however, does that mean there is a chance the negotiation falls through? |
