It was a short point... haha
I am too lazy right now to actually go and do all the research of it.. but in the last few years of that major list I compiled I know there are guys that have signed new RFA or UFA contracts for less money than Grabo did.
Marian Hossa, Bobby Ryan, Loui Eriksson, Johan Franzen, Jeff Carter, Brian Gionta, Thomas Plekanec, Milan Milanec (I think), Scott Hartnell, James Neal, Jordan Staal, Ryan Clowe, Joe Pavelski
just to name a few....
Even Ruutu and Grabo have had VERY similiar stats.. and Ruutu signed for 750k less - JVince117
Marian Hossa (circumvented cap), Bobby Ryan (soon to be UFA), Loui Eriksson, Johan Franzen(soon to be UFA), Jeff Carter (circumvented cap), Brian Gionta (Really?), Thomas Plekanec, Milan Michalek (UFA soon), Scott Hartnell (UFA Soon), James Neal, Jordan Staal (UFA Soon), Ryan Clowe (UFA Soon), Joe Pavelski (UFS Soon)
Your point isn't very good.
Also keep in mind that Centres make more than wingers that have the same role.

And I bet most of the remaining 10% signed their deals at least 2 years before Grabo... |

So you posted 5 mins ago that Grabo is better than EVERY FORWARD on Buffalo.... and now you are saying that Pominville is better..
way to stick to your guns buddy...
Vanek is a power forward who gets banged around hard! Grabo is a center who I am not clear on what exact style of the game he plays whether its a sniper or what.. but Vanek puts up hella more points than Grabo. |

Ohhhh so blame it on the salary cap when I actually have proof.. thats an awesome move...
By the way.. please do research..
Ryan is signed until 2015..
Franzen is signed until 2020
But atleast it shows that you agree about Eriksson, Plekanec, and Neal |

stop being dense
you cannot compare contracts signed as UFA to contracts signed as RFA
completely different set of circumstances. |

Firstly, Ryan is on his first deal signed after his entry level deal. That in itself says something. Grabo is on his second, thus he demands more.
I mized up Franzen and Fillipula.. Sue me..
Erikkson is an underrated player and when resigned will garner much more than Grabo..
As for the other 3, that is far less than the original 40+ players you posted.
Should we compare players that are making Vanek Money? How about Pomminville? I know Leino is pretty damn overpaid...
The point is that the majority of the players you initially mentioned can be fought rather easily..
Yes there are several players that make less than him and are better, but there are far more that are or will soon be making more that are equal or only slightly better.
TWhat this means is that he is not overpaid. |

i dont have a list handy but off the top of my head.. fleischman in florida got 4.5mill last year.. and there was a somewhat deeper crop last year
just watch.. any notables will get serious paydays this summer.. it will leave you shaking your head.. but the lack of tangible assets on the market is going to drive the price up 15-20%
just the nature of the business. |

I think how shallow the market is this year is really going to push the trade market over the top... i think this year's draft might produce the most trades in recent history.
Buffalo has already said that all of their 6 picks in the first 3 rounds are in play. They said they have depth at Defense and are looking for a top line center.

I did it for you.. End of page 7.. Eliminated 90% of them
I can give you examples of why they were eliminated
- Some were Rookies
- Some signed as RFAs
- Some were UFA's within 2 years
- Some contracts were for cap circumvention (i.e. less $ cause they signed long-term)
etc...
All of these things contribute to what a person signs for. |
