Nope, $$ in the POs, but yes his contract is obviously the one to move. |

I'm really surprised that Columbus moved on from him so fast. They gave up Voracek and 1st round pick. Carter was injured more than he played for the Jackets. Not sure why they didn't give him a full season before deciding to move on. - stveshdy
Well as many have said if they were looking for a Center to be a set up guy for Nash, that's not really Carter's strong point. And there's no doubt that Carter was unhappy there. And a player that is not happy, and with the situation the way it was. It was just better for both sides to move on. |

don't think i'd be able to file the paperwork with the league fast enough before feaster would realize what he'd done and change his mind. |

you don't have to feel sorry for him. but it's bizarre to say he can't be pissed. i know i would have been. - Don'tForgetTocchet
Of course he can be pissed. But IMO you don't do what he did. It was something a 1st grader who doesn't want to go to school does. You don't make your new bosses come to you to convince you to do your job. It's simple really, if he didn't want to go so bad he could have retired...."the world needs plenty of bartenders!". But then that money thing came in and he decided to go to Columbus and in the end he got what he wanted... to sleep next to Richie every night. |

Carter didn't make anybody do anything. And money really had nothing to do with it. |

Doughty is good. But he's not in the same class with Pronger, Webber, Charra. He may get there one day (although he lacks the size imo to be the same kind of physical force those guys are), but he's not there yet.
He's in that next tier down along with the likes of Suter, Keith, and many others.
All just my opinion of course, but that's how I see it.
EDIT: I realize you did not say Doughty was as good as Webber or Charra. Didn't mean to imply you did. - BringBack25

If it were my call, I wouldn't give up Giroux or Couturier. Every other player is negotiable. There is not a single player in the NHL that I would trade for "at all costs" but Weber is pretty close. Legitimate franchise defensemen are the hardest commodity to obtain.
The one reservation I have about a blockbuster deal for Weber is opening up other holes in the process. But those holes are easier ones to fill than a legitimate replacement for Pronger, who will be in his prime for several years to come.
Regarding Bouwmeester, no thanks on that cap hit. - bmeltzer
The Flyers farm system still hasn't fully recovered from losing all those picks in the Pronger deal... to go through all that again at this point would be pretty foolhardy from an organizational standpoint, no matter who it would be for. |
