I like Holmgren much better than Clarke as a GM. Who do you think will be the most improved Flyer next year?
- stveshdy

No doubt Schenn

I just find it funny that just a couple of days ago they said he was waiting to get the surgery b/c of the infection in his foot. Now all of a sudden a miracle happens and no surgery is needed. Crazy imo. Good for him that he doesn't need surgery but I hope that hip holds up.

They're trying to Betts him.

I hear all of that. I think he has it in him. Who do you think will be most improved?

Side note: IF Bryz is the most improved....well.......book your parade spot

Schenn. I think injuries hurt him this year. I expect him to be very good this year. When he's healthy and comes to play he can be a dominate force.

My personal opinion is the #Flyers shouldn't move JvR. But will he be moved? Usually with Philly, where there's smoke, there's fire.

P. Holmgren on May 19: "James van Riemsdyk will have surgery next week to repair a torn labrum in his right hip. Recovery time is 6 weeks"

Tim Panaccio‏@tpanotchCSN

Holmgren confirms TSN report on JVR. No surgery needed on hip - just rehab

*Who knows whats going on at this point. Nothing surprises me anymore. I have no clue what to expect.

Yea, and I think that will tie into what role he has on this team. He had flashes in the playoffs of really being a sparkplug, "Richards" type that can change the course of the game with his physicality. I think that even when healthy, being new to the team and everything he wasn't completely comfortable with his role, which is completely understandable. Im excited to see where he takes it.

Absolutely. Of course, there may have been a lot of swelling or something that made them delay and when it went down they saw only minor issues.

I just want to see him healthy and raring to go in 2012-13.

Thanks, I had Lasic surgery. Now I can see as well as an Inja and only occasionally wear glasses that are not mine.

Didn't think you needed bandages with that procedure. You shoulda stayed out of the sun.

Sorry about that. I thought it was you, but upon further review, it was Jsaq - not you - that pointed out Nancy Grace's wardrobe malfunction that one night back in the fall. I thought I was exacting revenge when instead I was relying on one of Jsaq's Hockeybuzz standby's: Take it out on TMan.

sorry

They trade for Nash yet? WTF is the hold up?
- Jsaquella

Nash is now demanding a trade to the Kings.

He was recently overheard storming out of Howson's office, repeatedly shouting "It should have been me dammit, not that !@# $&*# Carter!!".

never said carter was a bad guy, but he handled the situation somewhat unprofessionally.

your supposed objectivity re carter/Richards doesn't wash. where your concerned, they can do no wrong. holmgren had the final say on that one- those two weren't the guys he wanted to build around. they're good support players and they were effective in those roles for LA.

- isaiah520

Absolutely it washes. There's a difference between legitimate criticism such as criticizing a player on the ice. And criticism that is unfounded, such as how a player handles a personal situation. One in which your not in it, nor do you know all the details. And are trying to judge it from afar, removed from the emotions of it.

Holmgren at one time wanted to build around them and changed his mind for various reasons.

They're more then support players. They're top players on a top team.

Support players are Nolan, King, Lewis, Fraser etc.

Another great avatar. I've only played the demo of that game (timed, too...wtf?), and seriously debating getting the full game.

I've recently rediscovered it after buying it at launch. Great co-op play. It's got lasting value as well, considering I still haven't come close to beating any of the later campaigns. Consider this a glowing endorsement.

I hear they're working on a cross-over with Valve's Left 4 Dead series, I can only imagine how that's going to work. What does one steal from zombies?

Tsn is reporting the flyers are one of a few teams having significant discussions with Columbus for Nash. 7.8 per year looks pretty lofty, especially with Giroix coming up in a few years...

I think I'd rather break the bank on Parise if they are going to spend that much on a winger.

With Parise being a UFA, you could then use some forward assets to trade for a defenseman if you have to. I also like the fact that Parise is a proven playoff veteran.

I still believe it will come down to SJ or NYR.
