Agreed, especially considering Parise would only cost cap space. - BulliesPhan87
Exactly. Plus he's a great two way player. I dont know much about Nash's defensive game to comment on him. |

With Parise being a UFA, you could then use some forward assets to trade for a defenseman if you have to. I also like the fact that Parise is a proven playoff veteran. - MJL
Definitely. You will have to overpay via trade then swallow his cap hit. I'd much prefer to sign a UFA and then trade for a defenseman as you suggested. |

I still believe it will come down to SJ or NYR. - stveshdy
For Nash?
I just don't see the flyers doing it. Does he have to agree to the team? Or does he have to submit a list? I don't know how his contract is written. |

This is also a big factor to me. With Parise, we've seen what he can bring when it counts over the past couple months. Nash is a bit less proven of a commodity, he's a very good player but has almost no playoffs resumé. |

Parise also has a very good idea what comes along with playing in Philadelphia, so I don't think there would be any surprises there. I don't know how cut throat the Colmbus media/fanbase is, but I'm sure Philly would be a bit different.
Parise can handle the pressure, with Nash it's an unknown. |

I personally don't want the Flyers to pursue a top Cap hit Winger. I'd rather they allocate those cap resources to the defense. Obviously we only know what's being rumored. But it sure seems like the Flyers are hell bent on doing something. Making some kind of a splash. Like going to the store with the Credit Card to buy something. You don't know what it is, but your not coming home empty handed. I'd rather they make a move if it's the right move. If not bide time with some moves that aren't a big commitment until the right move presents itself.

For someone that doesn't believe in unsubstantiated rumors about players personal lives, you sure do buy into unsubstantiated hockey rumors. |

There certainly is a difference between speculating on a hockey related rumor, and blatant character assassination.

I'm on board with that, I'd much prefer they leave themselves in a position to get a top defenseman over pursuing a top forward right now. I won't be upset over a top talent on the first line wing if that's our destiny, of course. |

Obviously, by stating that we only know what we here in rumors, I'm saying that none of it is fact. And none of it factual.
Based on the fact that the Flyers are an aggressive franchise, that most times spends to the Cap, and normally makes a splash, I think it's reasonable to think that they will try to again this year. Based on past history.
So I think it's highly inaccurate for you to state that I buy into unsubstantiated hockey rumors. That's simply not the case.
And there is a huge difference between speculating on a players personal life, and judging that players character. Versus speculating on trade rumors and player moves. But that's just my opinion |

While some of it was simply character assassination (Carter with former Mrs. Hartnell)... a lot of it was widespread rumor with some sort of backing...

my dad used to say that to me all the time...
His point was that if you were doing something that would make people suspicious.. you were on a bad path. (IE)... Walking around with a big group of kids in 9th grade... When theres smoke, theres smoke... even if you arent in the wrong.. people will suspect something is going on. |

I'm not saying that we should believe everything we read, or even 2% of what we read.
But if someone wants to dismiss every single, unconfirmed rumor, they're free to lead their oblivious life. |
