Took some time to think about it? Yeah, that was a nice PR spin. He was traded, not signing a new deal with a new team.
If you're unhappy with a trade, you still act like a professional, report to your new team and don't insulate yourself from your new organization and the media.
You can put any spin on it that you (or his agent) wants, but he handled the situation poorly and deserves criticism for that. - bradleyc4
He didn't insulate himself from his new organization. He took a few days to collect his thoughts. Nothing wrong with that. And it's the off season. He doesn't need to report anywhere. I put myself in his position and think about how I would of felt. It's so easy to criticize from afar!
how do you know this? do you have sources, links or articles? he's only been in LA less then half a year...
key member member on the top line on two teams, traded and was supporting player on his third team. But winning the Stanely Cup...
oh wait, you must be writing a commercial...let me add the ending...
Winning the Stanley Cup....PRICELESS.

Yea he was a supporting player all right. LOL Top 5 in minutes played among forwards. Led the team in goals in the Post Season. Scored an OT game winning goal in game 2, which was a pivitol game. And scored the winning goal in the Cup clinching game. Definitely just a supporting player.
He was a key player on the Cup winning team. And both Richards and Carter proved what kind of players they are.
He's living much more fortunate than most. So I don't feel bad at all. I don't care why he doesn't like it there, but I imagine a lot of players get traded to places they don't like. Deal with it. - funmaster18
I don't feel bad for him either. I just recognize his right to be unhappy and have a say in his career.
- he has a NTC
- he has an exorbitant cap hit
- he shoots left-handed, when the Flyers have a strong need for a righty
- there's speculation that he didn't want to play for the Flyers back when he was about to become a UFA - bradleyc4

i thought all games are pivotal in a playoff series. Darn, I'm wrong again. You are really schooling me today MJL. Keep up the good work. Where is that theme music?
i will forever enjoy Jon Runyan
he was asked by the media why he chose to come to the Eagles. He simply replied, "they offered the most money".
in the end it's a business.
I also remember Carter's agent telling the media that both the player and himself are aware of the Flyers cap issues. But he still wouldn't sign for less then 5 million. So, at that point both agent and Carter played the "it's business card".

and it's so easy to defend him from afar. you must be exhausted in correcting everyone's opinion. Great job on your part.
it's always respectful to reach out to your new or old organzation when you get drafted or traded. but, i guess it's a business, it's the offseason, he needed to collect his thoughts, he was out on his boat, he needed to call his mommy, he needed to call Richie...darn i was wrong again....
I dont see the reason for his cap hit and what he's produced. Could be his situation in Calgary, but it's a bg upgrade on money without a definite upgrade on the ice.

I give the benefit of the doubt when I'm not there and in a players shoes. And when I also don't know all the facts. I won't criticize another for how they react to a life situation. We are all individuals and handle things in our own way.

that's your choice and i applaud you (please treat the emoticon as a clapping hands).
where others state their opinions from what they have read through the years.
