I'll bet he was grinding his teeth down to the nubs, and maybe still so - puckhead17
It's a business. Snider approved those trades this past summer. There is no hard feelings. I'm sure he has his reasons for liking or disliking what happened this year in the finals. |

Well then tell me. What exactly is it that makes it clear to intellignet observers that the Flyers aren't going to make a significant move with the defense?
And I may not be an intelligent observer, but I don't think anything is clear as to what the Flyers are going to do. They coould any number of directions. Most moves made aren't predicted. They could go offense, defense, or both. Or neither. Who knows. But I'm not an intellignet observer. - MJL
I should stop back reading because with you saying it I would never of had to restate that fact a few posts earlier. |

This is the 1st summer in a LONG LONG LONG (can I stress LONG enough?) time that I'm actually comfortable with 'just' tweaking the roster. I'm not against the big splash either if its on philly's terms... not Columbus' or Toronto's. We have no urgency to make a change just for the sake of change.
IMO the team has a young group of solid players (Giroux, JVR, Schenn, Couturier, Simmonds, Read, Voracek) on favorable contracts that every team needs to win the SC. Now its a matter of getting them the right Veterans to play along side before they are all up for new, much bigger paydays. I think Hartsy and Talbot are the right team fit (Physical 2-way Forwards w/ leadership ability). I have my doubts about Briere at $6.5 million, despite his playoff success. He's small and hardly plays defense... which this team went through great measures last off-season to change (Richie and Carts Deals, Versteeg, Powe, etc gone). Basically if I were homer I'd tell Briere he's playing 3rd line winger until he plays defense or waives his NTC, whichever comes first. Then I'd use that money to upgrade defense.
I do like Garrison. Resign Carle.
Kimmo-Coburn
Carle-Garrison
Mez-Grossmann
Works for me. not sold on Suter for $7 million.
With any luck, maybe Kimmo coming off the books a year from now goes a long way towards landing Shea Weber. fingers crossed Weber signs another 1 year deal (or arbitration) in Nashville then goes UFA. One can dream. |

Thanks man. That means a lot to me. I take a lot of grief - have been called satanic and retarded. But at the core I believe the Flyers are set up for the future and don't need radical changes. I also believe that we have very good, young (under 30) d-men.
JVR, G, Read, Simmonds, Schenn, Coots - let's let these guys grow together. |

I must have been typing while you were. Agree with almost everything - just think Weber is never going to happen. |

Have no issues with the Flyers taking that path. Will they do it? We will find that answer out soon enough. |

Despite what others feel on this board, if we can get him for JvR, Bob, and a mid-round pick, then I do that in a flash. - LordStanley88
What does JVR and Bob's salaries add up to and then how much extra would that add to our cap? Then remember a back up goalie has to be added which also takes up space.
I could look at Capgeek. Could.... |

You've stated that you want the Flyers to go out and sign Parise. Do you not consider that a radical change?

Sure right now we have SOME.
In two years you have Schenn, G, Couts, and Read all needing new deals. Plus, you will need to give Voracek a raise at some point.
Do you think Nash's 7.8 would not affect these contracts? - coffee junkie
Well you wouldn't have Timonen's bloated 6MM contract so there's some space right there... But you would be correct, it would destroy this team. |

I meant Paris, not Parise. Paris Hilton would help morale. Probably help everyones morale in 2 weeks. |
