I don't think it's true. I think that they have interest in Nash, but at the same time, I don't see them going through the whole process without first securing Nash's agreement to waive his NMC.

Agreed, holmgren isnt stupid

You are probably correct. If the trade was JVR, Read, and Bob, they're combined salary going to Columbus is about $6.8 million, so the Flyers wouldn't be taking on that much more salary.

Don't get me wrong, I would rather wait for Weber.

Trading all the assets it would take to land Nash, as well as taking on his bloated cap hit, coupled with the fact Nash isn't improving an area of need, and it all adds up to making zero sense. I'm sure there isn't anything to any of it.

I'm very surprised that Nashville was able to get a dearth of assets for Lindback. A 7th round pick with absolutely no NHL resume, Yzerman can't view Lindback as the Tampa starting goaltender I wouldn't think.

This offseaon will be exciting to say the leadr. Lindback got a huge returnfor the preds. I think there will be a boatload of trades this year. I also think that the cba will be done and there will be no work stoppage. Hopfully I am right

I agree. I think this year is a seller's market with all of the extra cap room. And that worries me because the Flyer's have a tendency to overspend on deals when they are buyer. I'm still pissed at how much they gave up for Pronger.

I really hope the Flyers re-sign Voracek and hold on to JvR.

Depends on the deal I guess. JVR, Read, Bob, one of Gusty/Bourdon, and even a marginal prospect like Harry Z, I'd be ok with it.

Is anyone else worried about trading 3-5 players for a "mega" star in the concussion era, or am I off-base.

After last year, putting all of your eggs in one basket just seems to be a recipe for broken eggs.

Why not just sign Parise? He would be less of a cap hit, and he's a better two way player than Nash is.

But unfortunately it takes two to tango.

Depends on the player's injury history. Flyers have good luck when it comes to injuries, so I wouldn't be overly concerned with it.

Well it seems as if Nash doesn't want to play in Philadelphia if there is any truth to the rumors. I wouldn't waste a second trying to convince anyone to come here. If they don't want to, screw them.

Though if it makes the Rags overspend, then I'm all for keeping the rumor alive

Yup, Let Sather blow up the Rags to acquire Nash, although I'm worried with the incompetence of Howson, Sather might rob the Jackets blind.

+1

Though I wouldn't mind trading JVR for a young d prospect (1st, 2nd year player) that could grow into a 1-2 role.

Howson's deals seem to keep getting worse, don't they

I like Brendan Gaunce, I've seen him compared at the NHL level to a Paul Gaustad.

If you were Parise, I don't know why you wouldn't want to come here and play with G for the next 5 years. Assuming the dollars were equal, I'd want to put myself in the best possible position to both succeed individually as a player and win a cup as a team. This seems to be one of the better situations for him. I guess maybe LA too, but I wonder about some of the other rumored teams (and even NJ).

I don't expect either to happen quite honestly. I really am opposed to bringing Jagr back for 3.0-3.5, sink every available penny into improving defensively, whether that be forwards, or d-men.

I don't think anyone over pays for Nash cap hit is too high. Dubinsky, Del Zotto, Jan Erixon and a first gets it done. Rangers won't have to give up either Stepan or Krieder. At least I don't think so. I can't remember a player making 7.8 mil a year getting traded for a lot of "good" pieces.

dead on, Bill. I hope the flyers are only "in on" nash to drive up the price the rangers have to pay to acquire him

I have heard rumor of Flyers/Preds possible deals... one of which could would send JVR, Voracek, Bourdon, and the Flyers next two first round picks. However, the Preds aren't ready to even discuss this at this point. The Preds are still focussed on returning both Weber and Suter at this point, however should the scenery change in the next week or so it appears the Flyers are one of the few team with depth and desire who could offer up two top 6 forwards (which Nashville wants terribly) along with youth and picks.
