JvR, Voracek, Bourdon and next 2 first round picks for Weber is what Ek is claiming to be a possibility...
I'd do it in a heart beat. Wouldn't even think twice - Flyers2821
You don't do it you keep the roster we have let them grow, keep the picks add them to a system that has less than nothing in it and grow together. These constant big name moves have won them NOTHING. Sort think it's time for oh I don't know another approach. |

If that "big name" is Shea Weber, you do it. No if ands or buts about it.
Shea Weber is a franchise changing player. - Flyers2821
I don't do it even then, is Weber going to fix the team wide defensive issues? Nope. |

From ek
I have heard rumor of Flyers/Preds possible deals... one of which could would send JVR, Voracek, Bourdon, and the Flyers next two first round picks. However, the Preds aren't ready to even discuss this at this point. The Preds are still focussed on returning both Weber and Suter at this point, however should the scenery change in the next week or so it appears the Flyers are one of the few team with depth and desire who could offer up two top 6 forwards (which Nashville wants terribly) along with youth and picks. - Philly1980
I would do this trade in a heartbeat! Shea Weber is a franchise changing player and would be the cornerstone of this team in D for the next decade. Absolutely 100% do that deal. |

You are talking about Shea Weber. This team is stocked with great young offensive talent and has the ability to move some of it to improve their defense. Just look at this team with and without Pronger and you see what a player like Shea Weber can do for a hockey team.
One of the biggest strengths of the Flyers has been their ability to constantly have a strong offense. They know how to acquire, draft or sign players to build an offense. If you get Weber you then have Weber, Coburn, Grossman for the next 4 years minimum and PLENTY of offensive talent still on the roster.
I absolutely make that move. |

That's fine you would I'm simply saying I wouldn't. If he only wants to sign another 1 year deal with Nashville I'll wait the 1 extra year and give up nothing to land him. |

Then Poile would be laughing all the way to the bank. Two young, former top 10 picks, two 1st rounders and a guy that's proved to be a solid 3rd pairing/7th man? For what again? Shea Weber, yes, but Shea Weber only under contract for one year. I'd give up one of JVR, Schenn or Jake and two 1st's for him but not an inch more. |

He might help but he won't solve it, that you need the entire team to fix. |

Giving up Voracek and JvR offensively leaves this team with a ton of offensive talent still... and young offensive talent. (Giroux, Schenn, Couturier, Read, Wellwood, Simmonds) Not to mention the Flyers biggest strength is developing forwards that are productive at the NHL level. They have a tremendous core on offense without Voracek and JvR.
Having a defensive unit of Weber, Coburn, Grossman, Timonen, Meszaros would go a long way for this hockey team. Timonen is getting older and next year is prolly his last year with the Flyers but Weber, Coburn, Grossman is one hell of a cornerstone on defense for the next 4 years minimum. |

Well if they know they can't re-sign both Weber and Suter, they have to trade Weber to get value or let him walk in FA. The return from the Flyers is a strong one as compensation for losing Weber.
It is crazy to trade a guy like Weber period, but if it comes down to them having to trade him... that's one nice package they will get back. |

I understand, I just won't do it. This roster can grow together with minor tweaks. They have nothing in the system to replace the forwards you want to move. You move for Weber how in 1 year do you extend Giroux & Simmonds then in 2 years extend Schenn & Couturier? - ob18
Money comes off the books. It absolutely can be done. Not to mention Schenn and Couturier will not be breaking he bank on their first initial deals in RFA.
I would have absolutely zero concern with the Flyers filling JvR and Voraceks roles in this offense. Zero. |

You can't assume they won't be landing a hefty raise.
Again bottom line is I don't do it, it's fine you would. |

Any chance this could be a 3 way deal that sees Nash to Nashville our JVR + package to CBJ and we get Weber? |

I have always had the mindset that when you can acquire a young cornerstone and franchise changing defenseman like Shea Weber at 26 years old... you do it. |

Dale the Wombat @wombathockey
JVR cap hit good at his current career PP/G ratio. Any improvement makes him a bargain. Still in prime when deal ends. Flyers intrigued.
Dale the Wombat @wombathockey
@NHLFlyers are getting interesting offers for JVR. They aren't shopping him, but they are listening. Cap hit desirable despite long term.
Source irrelevant, raises a good point. |

You must think MUCH higher of JvR and Voracek than I do. JvR has the potential to be a great player but Voracek is what he is. |

I was thinking about this too. I think it would be very hard to convince the Jackets to trade Nash within their division though. And do the Preds really have any interest in Nash's cap hit? It might be our best chance to get it done without selling the farm though.
To CBJ: JVR, Nashville's 2013 1st
To Preds: Nash, 2012 & 2013 Flyers 1st
To Flyers: Weber
Not sure the Preds would want to give up their 1st though... |

I think they are just scratching the surface of what they can do & can continue to grow with the talent we already have that constantly breaking up a team when you can just make tweaks to keep them together and try to get to that common goal of a cup is a better option.

Just spitballing. Getting Columbus involved in a three-way deal would only help the Flyers in my opinion. |

I don't think this team just needs a tweek. They need a franchise defenseman. Look at the teams that win the cup, they have that elite cornerstone d-man who anchors the team. That man is Shea Weber. If you can get him, you do it.
Neither JvR or Voracek have the potential to have as much of an impact on a team as Shea Weber does for the next decade. It's not even close. |
